When I read this post with the recipe (the one that anonymous posted) I went right out and bought some instant potaotes and mimi-buns so I could make them. I did like Bobbi Jo and only used 1 pound of beef. They were FANTASTIC! I have fixed them 3 times since then. With one pound of beef you can make 12-15 burgers. I make them thin. They are JUST LIKE the Holsombacks I used to buy there. I really think this has to be the original recipe.

I worked there years ago and was never aloud upstairs while Doug was mixing meat. I do know that bread and ice was used when it was mixed.

Sandy and Dudley sure make some good ones also. Best of luck you 2. I seen the newspaper and it was a great story.
Handy Andy!!!!!!! Man does THAT bring back memories!!!!!! I loved them and the second coming of Holsombacks's. The new place, Lynn's, is good too.

On another topic....I always heard they had mashed potatoes in them....could the instant flakes be a substitute?

I know a lady that used to work there and she told me how to make them. No potatoes in my recipe...I know someone that makes them now and they're just like Holsombacks. I have the pleasure of getting them about every two weeks if I want them for supper. They are sooooooooooooo good.......Yummy!!! Slap on a piece of cheese, onion, pickle and mustard. Fry is a pan, don't grill..... It may not be the exact recipe but it's so close you can't tell the difference... Oh yes, I'd like a Nehi Orange with my burgers please..........LOL
Did they have instant potatoes back in the 50's?

My Dad used to make these when we were kids. I never knew what was in them but I thought he used bread, onions and egg.

Why doesn't someone reveal the recipe? Let the rest of the world enjoy it. Don't think any third generation Holsombacks would mind, would they?
