Does anyone know what goes into the holsamback hamburgers? It would be great to have one again. I know it is a secret recipe but thought someone might have some idea, i know one ingredient is mashed potatoes.

Rick, My Mama had it (or atleast very close to it) I have been meaning to look through her recipes. I'll try to find it and post it.

There was bread too... Here's the breakdown...

1 & 1/2 half pounds of ground beef
6 slices of bread
1 cup of instant potato flakes
1 egg
chopped onions
Mini burger buns

Mix 6 slices of water wet bread, potato flakes & egg with the ground beef, mix well (it gets sticky).

Start frying your small burgers on a griddle with a little Crisco. When it's time to flip the burgers, start frying up the chopped onions and when the burgers are almost ready to take off, put some of the grilled onions on the patty and cap it with the top bun. Let it simmer for a bit, then take'em off and add them to the bottom bun and add whatever condiments you'd like.

Tip: don't flip the burger until the first side is done, they break apart easy.

Enjoy.

Mr. Holsomback started selling his burgers in 1922
Do you think they had instant potatoes way back then??
