I read i the Commonwelath rag today, they were fighting over who would come and get this man that died in Lexington and was a resident here. Lake Cumberland Funeral Home sure didn't offer to foot the bill and coroners office fought it, i seen a lot of things mentioned about compassion, how much the Coroner had, i didn't see it in this case. I didn't see it from anyone , all i see was they were fighting over who would be responsible for burial.
I read the same article. Please keep in mind that the coroner works for the county. Even though New was then a part of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, his responsibilities as coroner were separate from those related to his business interests. The fact that no one was willing to bury this man -- not his family, his town or his county -- was eye opening and disheartening. I guess I never really considered what happens to the unwanted when they die.

If you are so touched open up your wallet and simply pay the bill. Waiting too see just how muck compassion you really have.

LCFH has been asked to set stockholders value so some people can withdraw from the business. They have received no reply is what i'm hearing. Trust me there is more to come out of this than just Richard New's name slandered. There will be families destroyed when some thing come out in the open, board members and others. Some times old married men need to be VERY CAREFUL. I'd say satisify and settle and save face.
AGREE.. the Commonwealth journal is being contacted about a article as to why no one can get the valuse of the stock and the head hunt around the dismissal of the manager.

Is there any reason you people can not let this go? It looks like by now you would let the stockholders take the responsibility to sell or buy if they want too. This is no place to discuss personal business. GET A LIFE!

You mentioned the people responsible is the this mans FAMILY. It is not the county's responsiblity. If he did not have any family left that would be a different story. It is truly sad that person was unwanted but you have to agree that it is not the county's responsibility to pay the bill when the family will not do it.

I agree totally. However, if the family will not bury the man what is UK Medical Center to do -- keep him in the morgue indefinitely? Someone had to accept responsibility for the body and you can't force a family to burry a "loved one" if they don't want to or are unable to. In more urban areas the city or state pick up the tab for the homeless and the unwanted. However, I don't know what provisions a smaller community like Burnside has for dealing with cases like this. Surely, this is not the first time something like this has happened in this area. However, going to court to force someone to dispose of his remains like he's a sack of garbage -- well, that just strikes me as wrong.

Hopefully with all this competition the consumer will win. LCFH was the cheapest funeral home and it still made 280% profit in three years imagine what these other more expensive funeral homes are making.

Probably not all that much since they didn't get much business. I guess they are getting more now.

The deal is there aint no family! Hes a stiff at the Lex morgatory. Richard's budget is spent and there aint no family which means no votes! So why pay for a funeral when Lexington will have to bury him eventually! Richard is just taking care of our tax money. I'm glad someone is.

This may shed some light on why the family does not want to clain the body. This is a quote for the Lexington Herald Leader.

"
Robbie George explained Wednesday why the family did not want his father's body.

"I figured that the family's side of the story needed to be heard," he said.

"This man here, he caused a lot of people a lot of grief."

Robert George had lived in Pulaski County since about 2003, he said. Robert George had been married six or seven times and was living in Pulaski County because that's where his current wife is from, he said.

From 1987 to 1992, Robert George served time at Westville Correctional Facility in Indiana on a charge of criminal deviant conduct, according to the Indiana Department of Corrections. He was paroled in March 1992 and released from parole a year later.

"He took a plea bargain so it wouldn't reflect his actual, true crime," Robbie George said. He said his father molested a mentally challenged girl who lived in the neighborhood.

"He only did one prison sentence out of many that he could have been charged for," the son said.

Robbie George recalled being removed from his father's home when he was 8.

So spending tax money on healthcare is bad and should be stopped at any cost but cheetahs and dead child molesters is where tax dollars should be spent?

I can't believe how the Rev. Randy Wiles has gotten involved so much the last few month with Mr. Roy Garner when he fired him once and Mr. New brought him back to work to help him out. I here now that he really is doing great in Materials thing. They are a old saying that money talks. I was up there the other night to see someone and Mr. Cassada, Billy and even Roy Garner was up greeting me. helping me anyway they could. I thought I was Queen Elizabeth. I'm may sell my shares to Mr. Ward Correll. I'm sure he has the money to buy them.
