The mom new this little emo/goth kid was a basketcase. She should have owned a gun safe and kept everything except her personal defense gun locked up.

I'm convinced medication is a major factor in all 4 of these bad shootings.

Zero will never come for our guns, they know better. Heck, I bought all my high capacity 30rd magazines under the Clinton gun ban.

So what breaks down on what we need to do as a society to help prevent these type of things from happening? Should we regulate guns like we do cars? Perhaps....How about tackling mental health issues. You also have socio-economic issues that need to be addressed. Perhaps the type of guns that should be allowed? Number of bullets you are able to purchase? We limit all sorts of things, but this is the one area in which we can't even discuss what we can do? What about parents ability to spank their children without fear of being thrown in jail? I am not sure what the correct answer is, but I am sure that sweeping this under the rug is not the correct one.
Economic status and education would be a factor when dicussing inner city crime such as armed robbery, but not really when we look at these shooting spree mass murders. I know that the political stereotyping will go full blown eventually, but there are some right and wrong answers on these issues. All politicians will attempt to exploit tradgedy for their adgendas.

I'm glad that you brought up spanking. I would love to see some real education programs or pamphlets put out about how to properly train your children, as a parent.

This is what you get when you start taking away from the parents, gov. meddles in schools, gov. meddles in personal lives. Don't spank your children all will understand when you say, "Please honey that's not nice to do." School shootings to this mass amount never heard of 50 years ago. Maybe parents should try to take away cellphones, video games(rated Mature) showing numerous ways to kill people. Go back and look at where this country went wrong. By the way, go to big cities and look at the gang issues. They drive by every day and shoot. Maybe start there.

We had this discussion at our "Saturday Evening Social Club" in our neighborhood, with ages ranging from mid thirties to sixty. One member was a former teacher. I brought up spanking. My class was one of, if not the last ones who were allowed to be spanked. This bullshat was unheard of until Columbine. These younger gunmen were brought up in the "no consequences" generation. No spanking, no losing team in sports, everyone gets a trophy, etc.,etc. The result was a consensus agreement. When we were all coming up, when you screwed up, you got your azz busted, when you got home, you got it busted even worse, then grounded. We still screwed up, but we lived in fear of the consequences of doing something stupid. That said, there's a big difference between stupid and deadly. We never even contemplated deadly, because for all the azz bustings for doing stupid things we got, we couldn't imagine deadly.

When you grew up the general public did not have access to semi-automatic rifles with 30 round clips.

When someone is willing to commit suicide and wants to go out in a bang, they are not concerned with the consequences.

Ban all semi-automatic weapons. Period! Handguns included and this crap will stop.

You're spot on JJ. They removed corporal punishment in favor of psychoactive drugs, which are known to reduce empaty. Then they scream that it's the gun's fault. We treat political parties like sports teams, so we always cheer for our team no matter what BS they spew. A gun is a piece of metal people. It's no more the gun's fault that people are murdered than it is a spoon's fault that someone is fat.
These are human issues. If you want to ban something then ban psychoactive drugs and goth subculture. When a kid shows up at school with all that death cult garb, send him home or send him to counselling.
As much as liberals HATE southern redneck, hillbilly gun owners, they are not the problem. The question is, do the citizens of the U.S. have enough intellectual honesty to discuss these issues without being led astray by our power grabbing politicians that want to disarm the U.S. public so we can be more like Europe.

Look at the drugs people.

As a farm owner I've been troubled by so called hunters for years.(They) leave gates open, climb expensive fence wire due to being to lazy to walk to gate! Shoot toward house, cattle.
To sorry to take cans, bottles out of woods just throw on ground.
Tried allowing a few that ask to hunt but then next day I would have woods full of hunters (why) cause the one I told OK told all his buddies.
Now I run em off some days I run 5 or more from woods at deer season start!
Now just lately I've been working on building near road. When deer season started I seen trucks going up and down road with rifle in hands of passenger.
One of my neighbors said he saw one man shooting from window and killing deer with over 10 shots fired.
Of course none of this is legal, call the fish and wildlife and see how fast response is.
While (nice and polite to me) about it they all tell me I should post more signs and stop pointing gun at hunters when I run them off!(I notice they have bullit proof vest and arrive 2 hrs. after incident).
(Americans are now lazy back shooters), and YES I do think MOST guns should be banned and Hunters should have to put up 100,000 bond for violation of laws they loose it to state.

Question for you naive antigun fools; what makes you thunk gun laws will stop mass murder? Lanza broke into the school by shooting out the glass and entered a gun free zone with a gun. Gasp, he must not have seen the sign or else I am sure he wouldn't have entered! In China a man attacked and stabbed 22 kids last week, gun laws didn't stop him. Would you prefer that these nuts blow up schools with bombs? These can be easily constructed with household ingredients. Gun laws do nothing but take guns away from the very people who could stop idiots like this. Why is this so hard to understand? And while I am at it, why are most of the same people who scream the loudest for gun control the same people who are absolutely fine with murdering innocent babies by abortion?

You're wrong.....I'm the one in my thirties ....I watched Waco unfold on tv at school. Semi automatic weapons and 100 rd. clips were rather widely available. Guess again...

I think the point was : "outlaw guns, and only outlaws will have them". You know, like in Juarez? Hey, we all know criminals always abide by the rules, right? I mean if we outkaw guns, the criminals will line up in the streets to turn their's in, right? LOL, surely you anti gun folks don't believe that....do you?

Once again, I'm going to post this for you "anti gun" people out there...

Meth is illegal as hell, but it's ruining our society. Addicts find it so easily. But it's ILLEGAL, remember?

Heroin is illegal, but the addicts can find it with a phone call or a simple drive to the suppliers place of distribution. Heroin is ILLEGAL.

Cocaine is Illegal, but you can find an eight ball within minutes. You just have to know where. Remember once again, Cocaine is ILLEGAL. But it's everywhere, even in our schools.

Marijuana is still, sadly, ILLEGAL. But you can find a bag in minutes. Even though it's ILLEGAL, it's widely available in our very own schools.

It's also ILLEGAL for a convicted felon to own a firearm, but how many of them HAVE firearms in their possession? Remember, it's ILLEGAL for them to own a gun.... How are you going to take that firearm from them if you ban firearms?????

So now let's break this down: Just HOW, pray tell, do you anti gun people think that banning guns will take these guns away from criminals? We can't even get a handle on, yet alone STOP the use of illegal drugs, but you think that outlawing guns and taking them from law abiding citizens will stop these attacks by insane criminals who want to use them to rob, kill, attack and terrorize those of us who ARE responsible gun owners who have no criminal records or illicit backgrounds??

Get your heads out of your rear ends and think. JUST THINK!

You take guns away from people who want them for protection and all you're doing is making sure that the criminals are going to be the only ones with guns. And on that same note, you're going to turn LAW ABIDING citizens into criminals simply because they find a need to HIDE their guns for self protection. It will be ILLEGAL for a law abiding citizen to own a gun. The criminals will STILL be armed and STILL be criminals. WELL ARMED CRIMINALS.

Some of you worry me with they way you rationalize situations. You really do worry me.....
just sayin

so they've banned meth, lsd, heroin, and a dozen other things, but i can guarantee you that if i wanted any of the above, i could arrange it in a couple of hours.

banning only works for those willing to go along with it.
