I had recieved a dui 2nd and was ordered into kap for 52 classes.
It is virtually impossible for me to make the trip to danville every single week due to work or transportation (no DL).
What I would like to know is if there is any other agency or even kap for that matter that offers anything in the way of a one day class to get this shit over with.
of course all fees will still apply.
but I really need my dl back. the suspension was for 12 mos and it has been 13. the only thinbg keeping me from getting it back is the fact i did not finish the required classes for reasons mentioned above.
As we all know kap is nothing more than a money making racket and therefore as long as they get theyre money and the court suspensuion time has been met it shouldnt matter how many classes are went to.
sorry was venting a bit....
anyways anyone who knows of an alternative please let me know..
thanks.

I was scheduled to go to the Kentucky Alt. Program because I have to report that I have automobile insurance. For 3 months...do they still drug test you for going to show proof of insurance?

my boyfriend was issued to do kap, with drug tests, fees, and background reports. he was on probation and got a new violation, which he told them about and they told him not to worry about it, when it was time for his supervised visits to be over they sent him a letter saying that he was being revoked.. it makes me so mad to know that the entire time he was in this, they just wanted money... they could have sent in his violation papers and put a end of it, but they wanted to keep him coming in and taking his money.. i think that this is a joke.. so good luck to anyone who is put on this....
Think about this.....your boyfriend who is on probation gets into a new violation which he tells them about, so while doing their job they reply "don't worry about it", good grief did they have to spell it out to the idiot.... Oh don't worry about, your going to be revoked at the next hearing. Your boyfriend knew the stipulations of the program and he pays the price for his actions.

I have never been to court before until last month. I was given a satiation for letting my insurance expire. The court sent me to KAP. I walked in to talk with a lady who told me to come back in two weeks with proof in ins. and $30. I came back in 2 weeks and spoke with a male. He asked me how how he could help me. I said I think I owe you some money. He typed my name in the computer and said "ya you owe us a shit load of money." These people are very professional and well trained to deal with the public!? haha Ive never been treated so bad at taco bell. What good would it have done to complain to someone? Im just another bitter criminal!? Im sure that guy would admit to saying that right?

I agree. KAP is nothing but a money racket and all they are doing is taking from the poor who are barely getting by as it is. Who is going to hire or retain an employee who has to take time out from their position to report to KAP all the time? I can understand drug offenders being sent there but sending someone to KAP to show proof of insurance or something else as petty is ridiculous.

I have a friend whose husband is an abusive alcoholic. Recently he was arrested for domestic violence and AI. The courts have put him on a two year KAP program. The KAP website doesn't tell you much about the program, just that it has a 90% success rate with the probated and a 95% success rate with fines paid. After reading your post I understand how they have a 90% success of the probated. It seems to me that most of their victoms are for no insurance. I am hoping that someone can explain to me how this program is supposed to help my friends husband become a better husband. It isn't like he is going to fail a drug test (alcohol only stays in your system for 8 hours). He will make sure she doesn't report him for domestic violence again. So please explain to me how this program can possibly benefit my friends abusive lifestyle!!!!!

I know someone who has to go to KAP to pay the fines, but they never have to take a drug test, but they was busted for drugs. How can it be that they dont have to take a drug test? In fact they send someone else in there to pay their fine? I didn't think that you could do that???? Please someone tell why this is????

If you knew what you're talking about, you would understand that after the first visit (for no insurance) you don't actually have to report back. Your insurance provider is checked to ensure you KEEP insurance. If you were wrecked by someone without insurance, you might have a different attitude. Sorry about your luck in the court system

They are only required to do what is ordered by the court system. KAP has no authority in ordering services.

I keep hoping for an answer to how they deal with violent alcoholics. My friends husband won't tell much about his probation. He claims that it is one drug test a month and one anger management class. He says that the test and classes will end in six months. One drug test a month leaves him with 30 days to do as he wishes. After six months, we don't know how they will keep him sober. He will still be on probation for 18 months, but not supervised. Is this really how this program works?
