Everyone who relies on goverment assistance better start a different plan of action. Soon your food stamps will be cut and heating assistance plans delayed. Better eat cheap, get store brand and stock up for the hard times. You will now see first hand what it is to pay for your own food and pay for your own electric bill. You can thank your beloved Replublicans.

You can thank your Republicans for the state of our Nation. No one would need food stamps if there were JOBS or JOBS that could sustain people above POVERY LEVEL, SO THAT THEY COULD AFFORD FOOD AFTER THEY PAID BILLS. And just a heads up...people that get food stamps QUALIFY for food stamps because they are on or below the Poverty level.
I'll happily pay my taxes to make sure someone doesn't go hungry, especially children. It's called Karma and that means that the good or the bad that you do in your life for your fellow man WILL COME BACK TO YOU.
Think about that when you're standing in line for YOUR food stamps when something catastrophic happens in your life.
You're a typical American, you think you and your way of life is untouchable by the unforeseen future. And that's you're right.
Just know that you have your place in line behind millions of others that have been knocked off their heigh horses when they had to face a whole new way of life and were unable to do the most basic thing....feed themselves and their children.
But just know that when it's YOUR turn, compassionate and empathetic people like me....will be there to feed YOU.

They qualify for assistance based on very little proof. Democrats have enabled people to continue their cycle of government assistance. Blame whoever you want. The people riding real workers are way higher than Romneys 47%. It's much closer to 60. Congrats that you have a job. Soon we will all be working for the government. Welcome to Socialism. Obama has ruined our country. I don't care what party he represents.

And they'll be eating much better than people like us that actually work. So keep telling them that its their right to food stamps and welfare. Free healthcare?? Why would they ever work?

Does your opinions also go for our military who the vast majority are on food stamps as well? Yes that is right we don't even pay our military enough to feed their family without the support of food stamps. You are just another person who does not take the time to actually look into the real problems, but instead just parrot the Faux news talking points. I refuse to continue to try and get people like yourself to educate yourself on the actual issues.

Amen to that! "Why" obviously confirms his/her delusions when "it" answers itself. The higher up they are, the further they will have to fall. And for those hypocrites, I can guarantee, will be a long way down.

Where did you get yor data from? I recently retired after over 22 years in the Navy? Too say the vast majority are on food stamps is a gross overstatement. I agree they don't get paid much and some of the junior Sailors receive WIC but not food stamps. I am all for helping people but I have been in line an have seen people buying lobster and steak with their EBT card, is that what it was ment for, really because I could never aford four lobsters and a large pack of t-bones?

The way things are going it'll be a long way down for us all. Obama's insuring us all. Insuring that we all work to pay taxes that fund the ones that won't work. I have no clue if military fall under the poverty level or not but I know that the ones I'm speaking about aren't military and aren't disabled. But feel free to push the conversation any direction you want. Giving phones, food stamps and welfare to those that are capable of working is 100% why we are struggling in the US. I'm sure you're opinion means more than mine.

I love it when people blame one party. California is blue state. They are bankrupt. Detriot as been run by demos for the last 50 years.Bankrupt. How is that working out for the demos( demolition)
Texas a red state low taxes, and they are stealing jobs all over America. North and South Dakotas, unemployment almost nonexistant. Oh ,I forgot Red States.
Why is it the blue states are having such a hard time and the red states are doing ok?
And I did not put NY in there.
Yeal those damn red states are holding us down, nothing but a bunch of damn fools who work for a living.
You have to go where the jobs are.
You sound like someone in the middle of the desert without water, and you want someone to bring the water to you. You have to get off your duff, and move where the jobs are.

First of all there are some things you need to understand...The Navy Times is the National Enquire of military news...Don't believe anything you read in that. They consistantly print miss facts and untruths and seldomly run corections. Did you read the articles? 5000 out of over 300,000 Sailors? Roughtly 1.5% Wow what a percentage. Did you also read where it said that the majority of the families were junior Sailors with disproportunately large families. I would love to have had a big family but I knew that it was my responsibility to pay for food, clothing, etc hence I only have two childre. My husnand and I were both military so we were a little more fortunate than others. I worked in the legal field where we saw Junior Sailors who spend thier paychecks on large car payments (driving better cars that I was and I was much seniors, have the latestes computers and cell phones and then want to go to Navy relief for assistance when they can't by formula...I guess there are all types. To go under the premise that there are many military that require assistance to live is just plain false. I don't care how many articles you wish to link reality will not support the premis.

I appologize for the miss spellings. I am just so furious. I believe the military is undercompensated but assistance for food stamps or whatever you want to call it is not the answer. Reguardless the military is a cross section of Society so there will always be a small percentage that will need some sort of assistance requardless of what you do or how much you pay them. Until society learns that each individual is ultimately responsible for thier actions and it is their responsibility to live within our means. Not a popular idea today but I guess I am old school.

I agree with you that people should be more responsible, but how do you regulate that? Does that not mean more government? How do you tell someone they can't afford children so therefore they can't have them. Should we go with communist China's view on children. See it is easy to point out the problems and complain another thing completely to fix the problems.

China does it to control the population there, not to control years of being on government assistance.
The more kids they pump out, the more money they get.
I would start with drug testing and see how that goes first.

With that view you are not going to be popular on here. You want some one getting a free ride to work or get drug tested? Are you nuts, that is a violation of their rights .They deserve all that free stuff. You just keep on working 10 to 12 hours a day, so they can enjoy life. They deserve it.ooobbbaaammmaaa , ooobbbaaammaa.

I am not going to keep giving out information on how drug testing cost the taxpayer more money than the benefit. So is there a better way to do what you suggest that does not cause more taxpayer money and more government intrusion? I am willing to listen but that is not a fiscally sound option not to mention it make government bigger which cost the taxpayer even more money.
