Because we were paying taxes for it before that benefited a city other than our own so there isn't any difference.

So what?

How many Mountain Dew/Pepsi drinkers die every year from diabetes?

How many smokers die annually from Marlboro?

How many McDonalds customers die every year from heart disease?

How many die from innocently walkin' on railroad tracks , with a giant diesel powered train comin'@ them ??- And , it's usually said that they probably didn't hear the train ??- Knowin' this , are we to outlaw trains ?- Nope - We just go get a Big Mac , diet pepsi , hava smoke , then purchase (locally), a cold 30 cube of Miller High Life , and stay offen train tracks - It all boils down to personal responsibility for ones own choices -(dangit , now I'm hongry)-

With so many vehicular deaths, not all alcohol related either, I wonder why driving isn't considered a vice?
Maybe we should ban driving!

He hasn't actually sued them yet. He told them they had 30 days to look into why the city's interest was not looked at when it came to the license they approved. He also wanted to know why we were only allowed 5 licenses when there could have been a couple more. If they do not offer any help during the 30 days, then he is filing suit against them for violating their own policies. The person over the licensing process made several bad decisions before he stepped down and left the ABC. The stores that received ABC licenses will keep them but Wildcat is the only one that has received the license from the city. Once everything is done with the ABC, the other 4 will be issued their license. Wildcat was chosen because of the amount of product they will carry which equals more tax money coming in. They were also hiring the most employees.
actually the state ABC administrator was removed from his position and he did not vol step down.

The paper made it sound as if he stepped down but he was actually just moved to another department within the ABC because his 4 years as commissioner was up and he was not reappointed.

His 4 year commission was up. He was expecting it to be renewed. At the last minute it was decided it would not be renewed. He is no longer working in state government as far as I know.

All I did was post a link to a new study along with the headline that came with it. Why did you feel it necessary to bring in tobacco? I know the death statistics in America.

Wow, it has a link to the study right there in my post. I didn't make the claim. Are you drunk, lol?

I just thought it interesting that now with recent studies it looks like marijuana may cure cancer and alcohol may cause cancer.

What your study did not show was,if it was in a controlled environment ( smoke free).Usually when a person drinks, there is usually tobacco smoke around.Just experience.
Being a non smoker,I have been to a lot of places that were smoke filled. You have to remember non smoking places were hard to find, not to long ago, even the work places. The study is flawed.
You can usually tell a persons educational level by their responses.

Some folks can't tolerate facts. People argued tooth and nail that smoking wasn't dangerous for years. Guess what, some people still argue that smoking isn't dangerous.
I don't mind facts even if it's about something that I do.

I saw on the Somerset City Government website that the city made $120,489 from regulatory fees. Is this only fees like it sounds? Does anyone know how much the city made in taxes on alcohol sales for that time period, Sept through Dec? I can't find it on intenet.
