I have lived in 4 southern states in my life time and I have to say. Somerset Ky is a horrible place to live. I have been here for almost 3 years now and my family and I have seen nothing but bad. Bad schools, bad goverment, bad roads, bad food, bad weather, bad and drug riddled kids. I have never encountered so many rude people in my life. I do not understand this community. It has nothing but mean fat ugly people and I have tried to hire people to work and they are all stupid and lazy and want something for nothing.I will be glad when my family and I are out of here. I will never leave the south again. HATE THIS PLACE!!!!!!!

Welcome to the real world my friend. With that attitude you wont be satisfied anywhere you go.All you can do is make your little corner of the world better by your words and deeds, who knows, you may become an example that changes others lives but you have to change the way you see things first.

Trust me. Living in the south is nothing like this place. Mississippi is a great place to live. It has stately magnolias and southern hospitality. Great food and wonderful weather. Beautiful people. I lived there for over 30 years and a great place for kids to grow up and no basketball. Its the south we play football.

Jay, can you give some specific instances when people were mean to you, or rude to you? Also, please share with the class why think the kids are on drugs in Somerset(or riddled as you wrote). Perhaps because they wore black clothes, had piercings, etc? Please elaborate, I would like to hear your keen insight.

I understand that the folks in Somerset, KY aren't eye candy, and there are a lot of over weight people there, but I think you're sounding rather superficial. And, please tell the class why you're so beautiful. I'm willing to bet you're not in good shape, have high blood pressure, etc.

Next, I know for a fact that Mississippi is one of the fattest states in America. Actually, the south, are most many of the fattest states in America. Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, and Texas rank as states with high obesity. Also, year in and year out they rank at the bottom of the education system.

Thus, before you write, you should do your homework so you don't come across as the buffoon that I'm certain you are.

I agree Jay. Somerset is one of the oddest places that I've ever been. It almost completely lacks any local personality. I have some theories as to why, but they will delete my posts if I elaborate. I also tried to hire workers for a business that I started here. Very poor workers. I now run my business alone. My nickname for Somerset is Pettytown, because I have never seen a population of people more dedicated to being so petty in every aspect of their lives. Delete away and prove my point.

I spent 2 weeks in Hattisburg, Mississippi way back in the mid 70's. Beautiful friendly people, happy go lucky attitude, friendship for life, but please keep them dam lovebugs(that splatter all over the windshields) down there.
Anytime you and yours wish to re-visit Somerset, come on up to the top of the Southern States, since Indiana, Illinois and Ohio are considered Northern States.
The last time I checked, Missouri is to the West and Virginia and West Virginia(now don't get confused) are to the East of Kentucky. It could be said that Kentucky is like the gateway to the South.
Have a great Turkey Day.
One other tidbit of learnin'
If somebody hollers DUCK, that ain't meaning something to eat up here, that usually means some good ole boy or Gal is gettin' ready to fire
(another word that has at least 3 different meanings)
#1. Fire=burn
#2. Fire=unemployed
#3.Fire=shooting.
All have a certain amount of pain associated with it.

Hurry back ever chance, YOU GET.

Jay, you can live somewhere and "think" you knowitall, but you really don't. Sorry to burst your bubble. Your arrogance doesn't substitute for facts, period. Perhaps you lived in a well to do area of Mississippi and you have an opinion of a small portion of that state. I'm sure you haven't lived in EVERY county of Mississippi,so I strongly think you're strongly mistaken regarding your bias opinion of Mississippi.

Jay, I challenge you to move to a poor part of Mississippi rather than a well to do area, which I'm guessing that is what your comparisons are based upon. YOU will HATE Mississippi just as much as you dislike Somerset. I would bet on that and would win.

If you lived in a well to do part of Kentucky, you would like it better than a poor part of Mississippi. There are wonderful parts of Lexington and Louisville that would rival the best that Mississippi would have to offer. Don't be ignorant, become educated.

Good luck in Mississippi, they certainly they need you back there! I've look over some statistics again and they are in dire need of improvement in many areas!

By the way Jay, you didn't answer any of my questions. You were very broad and general in your diarrhea of the mouth on this thread. Evidently, you just want to throw a temper tantrum like a 3 year old online since you didn't get your little way somehow in Somerset, KY.

Most likely you're just one of those keyboard commandos who have nothing to back it up, you just like to bitch and whine to others to make yourself feel better. Pretty damn pathetic...

I just went for a visit to meet my husband relatives and I thought never again. Imagine you being in a place you have never been and meeting people for the first time. I was standing outside and his two sisters pulled up and got out of the car and walked right past me didn't say hello how are you kiss my azz or anything. They went in and I went in and sat across the room by my self. One of the fat sisters husband sat with his back to me with half of his ass showing. I've never been around people with such little sense. My husband and his brother said it was because I was smaller and a lot more attractive than them and they felt threatened. I let that go but then again we were going up there for christmas and had everything planned then his sister calls from the church that they attend (which is a joke) and said that they were not up for company. That they were tired. My husband hates to go up there so I know I'm not going to go back. Just idiots is all I met there.

I have lived in many states,North ,South East and West.I have found a person has to be like a willow tree, give and take.Maybe you are the problem.I,m not saying Somerset is perfect, but it sure beats a lot of other places.
As for as the tax dollars goes,we have paved roads, and anyone in the county who wants it can have city water.
I have done my share of complaining about tax waste, but it is managed here in a more open manner.
Iwill give you the fat people remark, and there are alot of lazy people here, just like Mississippi.Oh by the way I lived there also.
To say you hate a place in America, that is pretty strong, you need a chill pill.

Great thing about not liking where you live, you can move. Simple enough. Go start your business in Mississippi, if that is where you want to be. Why are you still here if you hate it? Leave.:)

Well, for the record. I lived in Ms for 30 years from the coast to the Delta and all in the middle. I worked the hold state. My job puts me in household everyday so I deal with communities everyday. So yes I deal with hold areas for many years. I am 53 and I am in perfect health and so is my wife and kids. Everyone has been so mean to My family and me here and we have seen nothing but bad here. So I am sorry for the way I feel about this place but it is the truth.
