Are there any agencies in Somerset that aid couples with the adoption process?
My wife and I used Adoption Assistance in Danville. They were very good to us. Charged about $1,000 but was well worth it. They were much better than the idiot attorney we used here in Somerset. Ended up hiring Bill Erwin from Danville to be our attorney and his office we good too.
The Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services in Frankfort can put you in touch with the local CHFS group.
If you are doing a private adoption, you will have to fill out the adoption paperwork, and forms.
Must fill out the DPP 187, 190 and 190A and other DPP forms as pertain to your particular situation.
The funds expended on an adoption had been a refundable tax credit through 2011. Unfortunately the politicians in DC can't seem to get together to extend it.
I think you can get some of the cost for an adoption waived and get services for free if your income is low enough. Hope this helps. My wife and I adopted in 2011 and was the best decision ever.
Thank you so much for the information.
