I went to withdraw some money today and the teller floored me when she asked did I know I had an overdraft that was never paid from 2004?!!? I was like what? No!!!

Needless to say as soon as I can get my direct deposit switched I am forever leaving Forcht Bank but this is ridiculous!!

Beware if you have Forcht Bank I have had them for years and this has never been mentioned before, if they can do this what else might they do?

They cannot or have not told me what the 79 check is for either, After she made it sound as though they were taking it out of my account she asked for permission to do so. BEWARE!!

She showed me a paper with numbers on it but it meant nothing to me. I have asked what the overdrawn check was for and they were to research it and call me back but have not yet. I went to the Somerset branch and couldn't get past the teller, but she called Science Hill and I could tell the manager there told her I owed it because I paid it. Well I paid it because they acted like they were taking it at first and second because I just applied for a mortgage yesterday with Citizens and I cant afford to have a collection show up on my bank statement

I would have assumed that whenever you owed for that check it should have been taken out of the bank then. Or if you are overdrawn the bank will get it back when you make a deposit. And unless its changed it takes a couple of months for something negative to show up on your credit.

I have a copy of my credit from where I applied for a mortgage yesterday it isn't on there they said it was because it was under 100, but I don't think that matters.
I was referring to my bank statement showing an overdrawn cause I have to give the last two months of statements that is what I thought too, but they are saying I closed the account and they never got it, but I have had this acount opened since 2007 so I don't know that was the year my mother died with cancer and I was going throug a divorce but I know I had Cumberland Valley then and I have never had 2 accounts at one time

Banks are all crooks. You have to watch them like a hawk. I know Monticello Banking is the worst i have ever seen for beating you out of your money. I haven't had any problems with Forcht yet.... But i think you should preceed with getting it straightened out. If you don't stay on it, it will never go away.

They did the SAME thing to my aunt! After they realized she would pay for such a thing, they started this every month! She soon switched banks!

I use to have an account at forcht bank and I have unfortunately had overdrafts before and they take it out as soon as you have money deposited in the bank without telling you of course and they always sent me a overdraft notice in the mail too. The charge use to be 34 dollars on top of the overdraft amount and when you go to deposit money or get a check cashed they won't let you cash the check unless you pay the overdraft amount also when I went to close out my account they had me overdrafted for not having soo much money in the bank within a period of time. I'm from london and I love PNC Bank I know you don't have that in somerset though.

Yeah that is the way I thought it worked too according to this teller Sara at the Science Hill location nobody had ever caught it before. I poste this on my status on Facebook and within minutes I had a friend tell they had the same experience and just as the above poster said about their aunt it happened to this lady more than once too. I work with a lady that said it happened to her multiple times as well. If you have Forcht Bank I think you would be wise to leave before this happens to you.

L&N is great! They have excellent mortagage and car loan rates to. We have several accounts at multiple banks in town and I think they are the best to deal with.

There are two courses of action you can take to get the banks attention: Lodge a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and with RipOff.com . Also see what Ripoff has against CoreTrans a/k/a Eagle Carriers, PayPal, et al.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE L&N. They are so nice. I've never had a problem there. They are getting ready to build a new bank to so, I am looking forward to a drive through. I also like that they have agreements with several other banks so you can use their atms without being charged a fee.

A couple years ago I went and cashed my state check there because thats where my account was .. For 2 years I had been cashing my paycheck there and nothing was ever said about an old over draft needless to say when i signed the back of my state check and handed it to the teller thats when my over draft was mentioned and couldnt even get the check back where I had done signed it and handed it to her so I was very upset over the situation and would never have an account there again!

Keep track of what you spend and when you spend it and stuff like this will not happen. Take some ownership. This was not the bank's fault. This was your fault for not keeping up with your checking account. Don't write the check if you don't have the money in the bank.

Excuse me but I am very meticulous with my account! I never overdraw. i have encountered since yesterday 6 other people who say Forcht bank has done this to them that is 6 out of possibly 20 people that seems more than a little fishy to me.

Also they can not tell me who the check was written to! They were supposed to call me yesterday after they researched it but as of yet no call to either tell me they can't find it or who it was too.

Something doesn't sound right, the overdraft from 2004 and they are just now mentioning it. 7 yrs. later, don't sound right. Seems to me that there were audits done during the seven years. Why, are they just now saying you owe. I would get to the bottom of this and demand proof of the check. I would write a letter to the President of the bank or whoever is over the accounting department. After this is settled, I would switch.
