Why would she start a petition to close the library

We should start a petition to investigate the corruption waste fraud and kickbacks to county officials and the contractor that got us here in the first place. Throw out ANY incument next vote..all library board members and Bullock..gone! Theyre all corrupt jackasses. Theyve wasted our time and money. Why do we need a taxpayer funded new fountain when the library is struggling?

Did you read the petition? Does it say anything about closing the library?

Of course if does not say that. Even the grinch wouldn't sign it if it did because everyone and their brother knows his name would be drug through the mud. The result of the petition being certified will be closing the library. All attorneys present at the meeting, on both sides, agreed that would happen. Take a look at the article and educate yourself before some clown shows how at your door asking you to sign something. Just to clarify, if you signed that petition, you signed a petition to close the library with the full knowledge of the person asking you to sign it, whether you knew it or not. Don't be their lemming.

Thank God for topix and social media for getting the word out before these people got too far along. It appears the public backlash against them is taking a toll.

For those that may be wondering, how can they unsign the petition if they did not know the results of their action?

I don't care if the library closes. I have seen such waste of money in the old library and in the new one.

At the old library, many times you couldn't get anyone to assist you because they were too busy standing around gossiping. They acted like you were bothering them when you went to the desk to check books out. I was there often and never saw what I would call a crowd there!

Many people feel there wasn't a need for the new library. There was contstant complains about lack of parking, yet they let some of their friends in businesses across the street part there as long as they wanted to.

I think it is a waste of our tax money.

If you would like to have your name taken off the petition you can go to the library and they have a paper that you can sign that will make your signature on the petition not valid.

I think we needed a new library but we sure didnt need the building we have now. Its like the courthouse. Things could have been done much much cheaper than it was. Now our grandchildren will paying for these for years to come.

Our contributions to our library system are at the low end when compared with other counties. I posted this earlier but you can look it up yourself if you like. We contribute $38 per year per capita for our library system. Lexington contributes $44 and Madison County contributes $34. Our library system and library buildings are by no means excessive. It just illustrates that we are in step with other areas who have committed to encouraging literacy in their communities.

Honey, our grandchildren are already gonna be paying so much because of Barack Hussein Obama, and if they're still allowed to own property, they're not gonna miss that extra $100.00 a year.

Where do I go to sign the petition. I'll take all my farm hands with me. If you want to read a book, then buy one. I'd rather have that tax money in pocket.

Maybe there should be a petition to reallocate fountain money to the library?

For those saying that our new library is a waste and no one ever uses it I would like to point out that from 2010-2011 the library circulated 363,364 materials.

There were 457 adult programs with an attendance of 6,312. The adult programs are ranked the seventh highest for number of programs and the ninth for attendance. This ranking includes all of KY public libraries.

There were 1,642 children programs with an attendance of 69,950. Our libraries children programs have the third highest attendance of all KY public libraries.

There were 655 young adult programs with an attendance of 11,059. Which makes the teen programs number 1 for both attendance and amount of programs in all of Kentucky.

74,556 people a year use the computers at the public library.

All of this information can easily be found by searching for reports of Kentucky Public Libraries. These facts show how important our library is to the community and that in no way is it a waste of money.

Things like a public library should be supported by donations/contributions. No one should be forced to pay for a public library.

I read this on another thread, but do these people not know that the library tax has only increased 1.4 cents in 50 something years? Of all the changes in Pulaski county since the 60's no ones complained about the library tax until now? when its only 1,4 cents more?
