I was once offered a job there. I worked at oakwood before bluegrass took over. The reason I did not take the job is they never give a raise.

you are so right! 10.00 + benefits is more than reasonable for someone with no college education. Most group homes pay way less than that without insurance.

Ok so i may take ur advice.,.if u provded some reason why i should...like why is it horrible..u just stated personal opinion and did not give any examples...did u get fired? do you just not like working with the MR population? or what>? also do u pick the clients up at Oakwood and take them home each day or what ? how does that work,,thanks

How can you trust someone that would tell you that you're better off without any insurance? ANY insurance beats NO insurance.

They also sound a bit too 'disgruntled' to me. My guess leans toward them being a unreliable employee and they were terminated for some reason. That might have a lot to do with the 'advise' they are giving.

The comment itself was also awfully immature in my opinion. Notice the "stupid, dumb" portion of the comment: "a person is better of working at a fast food then that stupid dumb place"....

fast food is a better career choice than a group home company. Group home companies in this area offer no future whatsoever. There are no benefits and the pay is pitiful with no raises.

If we were smart we would bind together and unionize.

Nope I think a lot of you from your postings you sound like a wonderful person, but this person is right about the insurance b/c the coverage is so little your actually better off financially without it most likely. At least at the company I work for its that way.

i worked there for 15 years and they decided to lay me off cause i made more then others, there was several of us that lost our job because we had senoirity, but im not bitter im glad im out of there. and believe me i have no insurance and my meds cost me 4 bucks instead of 10 with oakwoods insurance. the doctors give you breaks if you have no insurance, trust me on that. and u will only make 10 an hour which after all deductibles u bring home 500 every two weeks,,,,trust me its not as good as u might think, just go see for yourself and then like i said been there done that and its not good...especially on ur nerves!!!

bluegrass connections is not the same as oakwood. They haven't been around 15 years. I'm sure it's a hard job just like oakwood though. People who work there earn every penny.

the same people operate connections. I doubt it's as stressful there depending on your home. I personally would work for them. They are not so good to the staff but the clients are treated well. Give it a try. It's a job.

i worked there for several years before going on maternity leave. after my daughter was born my husband an i decided his income was enough to keep us goin an i was goin to stay home with our daughter the first years. i personally LOVED every minute of my shifts. but of course i love that type of work an yes some of my clients could become a handful at times, but theres always a reason behind why they are like that. god created them the same as he did everyone else. he just created them special. not just anyone can handle this type of work. it takes someone with alot of love an nerves to care for these people. me personally once my child is in school an im not tied down at home with her, i most certainly will re-apply there or something in that same line of work.
