I seldom read topic much less comment. The only reason I find myself on here today is because I was searching for a hospital that had a great labor and delivery unit to have my baby. Topic came up when I googled it so I thought I would read others comments to see if it was good. My story is this. I am 41 and was having stomach and back pains with light bleeding. Although I thought it was surely impossible to be pregnant I was late on my period and the feeding scared me. My husband and I decided to go to er when he pain wouldn't stop. See I have kidney stones quite regular and also thought it could be one trying to pass. After many hours of dealing with a wonderful nurse I found out I was prevent and they were going to ultrasound to make sure everything looked okay and it wasn't in tubes. The lady doing ultrasound told me from start she couldn't tell anything but I could watch screen, I think that was her way of hunting I would be able to see if it was OK. The baby was I. Uterus andooked good and then I saw it had heartbeat. I went back to my room where my husband was and after a couple hours radiologist came in to tell me what he had read on pictures. He sat down and told me he had really bad news that they could not see a baby only tissue and matter and I had had a miscarriage. He was sending me home with meds to make baby finish aborting and if it didn't I would have to have DNC. I sat in complete shock cause I knew what I had seen! When he left room I told my husband who had tears that I wasn't taking anything until I went to another doctor to make sure. Five mins later the doctor comes back in and says " forgot everything I just told you you are 7 weeks with so far he thy pregancy" there was another lady there who had.lost hers and he mixed our files up. I pray she wasn't told at first she had the healthy baby and then only to b told otherwise. Just unbelieeable situation.

I hope that you reported this to Administration at the hospital. This radiologist certainly did not do his/her job in properly identifying you and your study prior to speaking with you. Hospitals need to know when these error occur so they can take corrective action that it does not happen again.
Best wishes on your pregnancy.

its like this all over Kentucky.my wife was at Clinton county hospital a couple years ago,she was sitting in one of the chairs in the hall when a janitor came up the hall pulling a huge trash cart.the cart wheel caught her foot and dragged her out of her chair.she had recently undergone knee surgery and was in a brace.her knee was reinjured but the hospital denied the whole incident.it happened in front of a security camera which conveniently was not operational at that moment.although a few nurses were in the hall there were no witnesses.

One of the top indicators of whether you will survive your hospital stay is the nurse to Patient ratio and how staff is treated. LCRH is very low rated by organizations that represent nurses and every other type of hospital employee, with ONE exection.

Columbia spinnout LifePoint in general and LCRH get low rated byall groups of hospital employees except IT employees.(Information technology) They love it because they are treated like kings. The company is looking for every excuse to grind out maximum dollars and control information on things like nosocomial infections (aquired in hospital and other forms of morbidity and mortality reported to the Federal Govt re Medicare and Medicaid requirements..

Good nurses go elsewhere for better and working contions. Many locals have long commutes to escape the place.
Based on the fraction they DO report, the hospital is ranked at the 30 percentile, meaning 70% do better. But they don't deserve the 30 percentile because of underreporting.

I had a similar thing happen to me at LCRH...I was in full on labor..they were just getting ready to break my water when a nurse came in and started asking me a bunch of questions about drug abuse and treatment. II was like wait what?! And she told me that i had tested positive for Marijuana..at that point i was floored because not only was i having very painful contractions while she was telling me this but i am trying to figure out WTF was going on because there was no way i could have tested positive for drugs of any kind. And before i could even say anything she also asked me if i had finished treatment for my Chlamydia HAHA...i was like lady for one thing i don't have any STDs and for another thing i haven't had marijuana since i was 18. Since i was in full labor and really couldn't get to the bottom of it myself my husband went out and talked to them for what seemed like hours.and he found out that the nurse had gotten my file mixed up with another woman that was delivering that day...well i guess that nurse got pissed that she was wrong cause when she came in to see if i was dilated i asked her to wait till my contraction was over and she did't listen to me..she just shoved her hand up there as hard as she could and i swear if i could reached her with my foot i woulda kicked her across the room!! I filed a complaint but i am sure it was just brushed under the rug as usual...this was 4 years ago.

I am so sorry you were put thru this, but your experience was sadly typical.

They sent my Mother home on a broken ankle. She had numbness in the legs, but said it was the worst pain she ever had. She walked on her broken ankle until she suffered a compound fracture (bone sticking thru skin). Her ankle never healed and kept her an invalid for the rest of her life.

My cousin was choking from severe sleep apnea (central and obstrucive), Her breathing was very abnormal when she was awake as well. They just fixated on the sleeping pills a sleep specialist had talked her into taking, insisting she was drug-seeking and failing to listen to anything else. She's convinced that the ER doctor deliberately hurt her when she insisted her condition was critical. She nearly died and is still very traumatized

They sent my Sister home in the middle of a stroke, while I begged them not to. She died later that night

I could go on and on. I don't know anyone who doesn't have a long list of horror stories about the place.

I really don't know why the butcher house a/k/a LCRH has not been sued into bankruptcy and a lot of doctors' licenses revoked.

Contrary to popular opinion, it is very difficult to sue doctors, even when their mistakes are egregious. The number one priority is CYA, there is no one looking out for your interest.
Take a smart, connected person with you and keep them close at hand. Even a good hospital is a very dangerous place.

I take two high dose Naproxen a day. I can assure you I don't crap blood! I've been taking this for over two years with no problems. Where did you hear that? Just curious
I didn't hear it, it actually happened to me. I took the pills as the prescription said, and on the second day when I went to the bathroom the toilet was full of blood. My doctor was not available, so I called my pharmacist, and I was told to stop taking the pills immediately. The bleeding stopped when I quit taking the pills.

Doctors are leaving out like fly's from this hospital and going else where such as Central Baptist! Central Baptist is where I will go if need be it! We need another hospital and the reason we dont is for all the money that is going under the table for Political reasons only such as getting a Republican in...It's time to stand up for another hospital in Pulaski County!!!!

WOW!!! Seriously LCRH is basically the only hospital for Pulaski County and the surrounding counties. You would really rather not have a hospital... Seriously do you know how many lives they save on a daily basis? Do you not think there is a reason they are so strict on pain medication?

Here is the thing she wasn't seeking pain killers. Turned out her gallbladder was rupturing and she had to have it removed stat. She didn't even take anything but Tylenol after her surgery. My point was that not everyone is a dope head so they need to start treating the patient not their stupid suspicions. So yes if that's the best we can get then we would be better off with out.

My wife had pain in her abdomen for months that was constantly misdiagnosed by three local physicians. I took her to Lexington st Joseph where she was diagnosed with gall bladder disease and her gall bladder was removed.she is fine now.

You got that right. I've never been to the emergency room without being given the riot act about pain med's. I tell them I don't want their poison pills, just fix the problem!! They'll look at your xray and say "nothing's broken, go home" and that's all they do.

I like that. I have been saying leading the way in hospital acquired infections.

Or leading the way to Vanderbilt, a top rated hospital. The closest one to Somerset. Ufortunately we often don't get a choice, LCRH has a monopoly here.

The reason there is restrictions on pain meds is because the doctors used to prescribe them like candy. That is what caused this mess. Greed of the pharmaceutical industry and the puppet doctors who fall in line with the "industry standard".
