Actually, Hines is the winningest coach in PC's 27-year history. Only he and John Cain have winning overall records, and Hines has been the head coach for 11 years now. Cain was head coach for four ... you do the math.

Anyway, I find it so ironic that some PC and SW fans want changes, but apparently their administrations won't bite. Meanwhile, ALL Jumper fans would like the Somerset administration to remove the "interim" tag from Coach Robbie "11-0" Lucas' job title, but they refuse.

Somerset did beat Pulaski, who beat Southwestern--so I guess by Coach Hines reasoning the Jumpers are the County Champions this season, huh? They also beat 3 teams that were ranked in the top 10 in their respective classes in the preseason this year in Knox Central, Pulaski and Danville. Danville turned out to have a down year but Somerset beat them worse than anyone all season--Boyle County included. They also have defeated 5 teams that are still alive in the 2nd round of the playoffs: Knox, PC, Danville, Estill and Garrard. Say what you want but Somerset is a very good team this season and has a legitimate chance to make it to Bowling Green. They might not be the favorite in the east but this is a much tougher Jumper team than the last few seasons--and the best in the County this season.

You got that right. It amazes me how people say they haven't played anyone when they got beat by SHS. County teams might be 5A but they were definitely in a weak district this year.

Maybe you should read the football 10 commandments. see coach hines for them. i'm sure he'd be glad to show you again, since you apparently never read them before allowing your son to play.

Or maybe, you have too many issues yourself. this is (so far) one of the top 5 teams of pulaski maroons football all time. i can say that with ease. and the season isnt even over yet. Since hines' time, the maroons have improved more than any other coach has fooled with. no other coach has done what hines has. if you cant see that, your blind. How can you chastise a coach that keeps having "firsts" happen on this team? Are you bitter over 3 close losses? 10 years ago, during hines's first year, pc would have lost those 3 games by 20 points or more. and you cant say they would have won seven games. last time i checked, 7-3 is a good record especially when you have the undefeated district title in hand.

I could go on about this for longer than you would want to hear about, because you only want what you want.

I've seen HINES pull out a senior qb and replace him with a freshman. why? the freshman was better. dont tell me that hines picks favorites. its all about who's gonna do the best. and the coaches know more than you do. your not out there during practice, or when their lifting weights, or when their walking through the hallways at school. and yeah, somerset can claim the county/city title. hickory if your still mad about that, you can chalck it up to cobb not wanting to play both county schools. lets hope that lucas(if coaching next year) can change that. why not hire him? are the jumpers riding off cobb fumes? i dont think so. for a coach to step in and do what he has on short notice shows something: either cobb got the ready for his sudden departure, or the obvious. The city title now just sucks since somerset made the move to not make it authentic anymore(unless its one of the county teams who some how beats both on the year that they are allowed to play somerset). but thats another story. What do you mean PC and SW are not in a weak district???!!!! Did you see the records of the other teams in the district???? As for the region.....yeah, PC and SW are in one HELL of a region. But, you know, I guess if SW had played some better competition in their district they wouldnt be out of the first round! People just keep making excuses against Somerset and their success....seems to me people are more worried about a "true city champ" than hoping their team gets a District....Regional....or State title.....thats all PC and SW ever hopes for is the City title because they know they will never get much more than that!

All you HATERS listen-up...This SWHS Supporter DOES wish the best for the Briarjumpers...They have over-come the abrupt loss of their head coach Cobb and went on to capture an undefeated season. I don't care WHO you are, you got to respect that. My hat is off to Coach Lucas , Staff, and most of all the Kids who made it happen... I would like to make one more Point of Order. That is: In my many years in Pulaski County I have personally witness OUR KIDS becoming best friends with each other. They are taught SPORTSMANSHIP and RESPECT. They live by it and that is what WE want. The problems of hatred and bitterness fall not upon the KIDS but upon adults who need to pray for GOD to remove the devil from their hearts...Enough ...Ole Gator wishes the BEST of luck to Somerset in Quest of the ring...They deserve it...Same wishes go out to PC. With the loss of All-State quarterback Muse in the 1st game, I suspeced BIG problems for PC, but NO, Eastham stepped in and brought the Maroons on...As they venture into battle against a tough Whitley County Team...Best of Luck to you all...

I hear so much parent complaining at the games its crazy..My son plays Varsity, but he has EARNED his playing time, and it makes me angry when I hear PARENTS whine like little kids cause thier son isnt starting Vasity, or saying my son is just a favorite!!
I dont always agree with Hines, but he IS the coach not me...I do think he could do more for the seniors as far as helping them get what they need when college recruits come calling...Parents are having a hard time getting senior film and basic information from him, and I think if colleges are interested in your players then as a coach you should do ALL you can to help them...
Its sad to watch parents act this way, and like I tell my son "Do you what your doing and ignore the rest!"

Now THAT is a fine post. Unless the teams are playing each other and you have to pick a side, folks should pull for the local teams! I wish ALL of them went state! How good would that make each team look!?

Hey PC Parent...You can go to WAZOO Spors.com and get dvd copies of most of the PC games or go Alex Abner's Dad and request copies...Coach A sends out copies to colleges if the Player wishes to go to the next level. He has an unbelivable record in that area. Coach not only help our KIDS but he has helped many others...All you have to do is ask...He is a people person...

Don't forget Fort Knox......of course, those WERE state title games.....something the county schools HAVE NOT been to. Let us not forget Somerset's CKC titles from the 60's/70's either. Countless District and Regional titles than HAD to run through the likes of Corbin, Danville, Boyle Co., some tough Middlesboro teams, and yes.....Newport Cath in Semi finals games (which they beat in '83 and '88). That being said they did get trounced in '88, but lost in the waning seconds of the game in '83 to a Fort Knox squad that was 2A in numbers only.....you're talking at least 4A in regards to the raw talent on those teams of that era.(remember a certain UK TB named Derrick Homer?) So, while we're "talking" here, PC's been around for nearly 30 years and only has ONE lousy district title? Come on!

I said I wouldn't stoop to petty mudslinging, but I did.....my apologies, why can't we just come together as a community and support our local teams? Look at it this way......if PC wins out and and goes to the Finals and so does SHS, doesn't it look good on PCHS if one of their losses is to a State Finals team? DUH! HELLO! Some folks (me included now) need to take a page from Gatorbait's post. I can see the bashing when they are playing each other, but I would think we could grow up a little and support our NEIGHBORS.....just sayin'. And, yes, I know, SHS fans are just as guilty.
