Old wrote: No, it simply the definition. Religion is the system of beliefs that you use to deal with a deity. Your religion is that there is no deity. It takes just as much faith to be determined that there is no as as it does to insist that there is one or more. Religion is a system of beliefs, not one belief. That's the first thing you got wrong. One belief wouldn't constitute a system. I don't believe there are no deities, I lack belief in deities. It doesn't take any faith at all to lack belief in something. That is how we define atheism these days, as a lack of belief in deities. You're also wrong by equating the amount of faith it would take to believe in a universe with no deities to the amount of faith it takes to believe in a specific deity. I've never seen a deity, or any evidence for one. It would take very little faith to follow that lack of evidence to the conclusion that there aren't any deities anywhere. It takes even less faith to believe that specific deities don't exist, because some of those claims are testable, and often fail the tests.

Yiago wrote: <quoted text> If you are Christian then you don't understand your own religion. The entire purpose of creation is for human beings to worship God. Everything else is just details. Still, if we went with your take on it, you would have an enormous problem. It is already damning to Christianity that the Bible makes no mention of things like germs and galaxies but if we are a "back up plan" then it means the Bible doesn't even talk about the main plan. Is that an epic fail or what? Truth is Christianity is 100% about Jesus Christ and his sacrifice for humanity. That's it. Everything else really is just background noise. It's kind of a goofy religion but that's what it is all about if you buy into it. You are simply wrong. Christianity is a group of religions and there is a wide variance on thier respective dogmas. Your opinion about it is just that, your opinion. You do not speak for all Christians. My particular religion has no trouble with germ theory, astronomy or any science. Partly because we take an interpretive view of the bible and do not regard it as the final word on really anything seeing as it was written by rather uneducated people compared to modern science. They were well educated for their time, but their time is long gone. The people around today insisting that the bible is the final word will be left in the dust. We were given a brain for a reason. To deliberately limit one's learning is a sin.

I wish there was an ignore button. You keep asking the same question and then throw out strawmen. I'm not wasting any more time on you.

Submitting to the idea that because it's complex it must have a creator is blatant intellectual dishonesty. You ask how is all this here without a god? I ask, how is god here? The person mentions all these wonderful things about our planet that make it just so perfect for us to live on. What about the Atropa Belladonna Nightshade plant? It takes only about 5 berries from this plant to kill an adult human. What about hurricanes and tornados? What about earthquakes? You say that god made this wonderful planet here for us, but he sure also added a lot of stuff that can kill us.

I don't know which sect you belong to but if you reject the fact that Christianity is about obsession with Christ then you do not understand Christianity. I'm an atheist and I get it. I've also studied the history of Christianity and this is the common refrain: it is about Jesus.
