No, the industry is bigger than ever before, but the industry itself is controlled by multiple corporations represented by many different boards of directors and shareholders, not a single entity as was the case during a monopoly.
You have no idea what you are talking about.

I most certainly did not say an Ipad was completely secure and unhackable.
I said a server sitting behind a firewall was more secure than an antiquated phone system. Then you said you could hack my firewall personally even though you were "computer stupid".
Now I certainly wouldn't call you stupid, but I did say you could not hack my firewall.
Then you post a story about schoolkids resetting the parental controls on their school-given Ipads as proof that firewalls only "offer a false sense of security"?
I don't think you really know how firewalls work, which is understandable as many don't. I'll link a good overview in the next post.

Reread your post.

No, no one said healthcare was a monopoly. Far from it.
Since we are discussing monopolies. Do you think the 3 power grids should be broken up? That is a total monopoly. It is also referred to as a natural monopoly.

ObamaCare is a virtual hand of Obama in your pockets. Start using a chain in your pockets or a 3-way locker. Lol

I don't know, that's a good example.

On one hand, it is kind of cruddy that I can't turn to another power company if I am unsatisfied with the service of my current provider. But one thing to take into account, power companies are heavily regulated by the government. They can't even raise prices without first getting the okay from regulators.

So while power companies do have a monopoly over a geographic area, they are prevented, by the government, from totally abusing that monopoly.

On the flip side, does a small government conservative think these government regulations on power companies be lifted? Should power companies be able to charge whatever they want?

Personally I think a free market is the best course, but not a laissez-faire free market. Government regulations and limits are required for a market to flourish and remain fair.

I did not say power companies, I said grids. I understand regulations.
For every one who bitches about RECC, get a life. A couple years back during the ice storm, we were out for 8 hours, only. I have lived in a few places, and I was totally suprised it came back on so quickly. Since then it may have been out for a couple of hours. Usually some yahoo hits a pole. They respond every efficiently. Also some of the cheapest rates in the U.S., But wait obama is going to fix that.

I'm clueless, who owns these power grids? You mentioned 3 companies, who are they?

I've never had any issue with RECC. I can say the same about Time-Warner, but it is still nice to know I could switch to Windstream if needed.

The power is supplied by independant operators, but the government has tight control over these companies. Except for Texas. The Feds have no control over Texas.
I don't know why Kentucky does not go independant.
Not todecieve you , these ae the grids in the lower 48. The other 10 states must have their own.
You will have to ask obama. He is the one who added 8 states to the union. I am clueless about obamas mystery states.

Honestly, I do not want Obama impeached. Let him serve out and go down in history for what he is and let the liberals, blacks, and Mexicans see what they did by electing him.

Okay, we get that. Too late, it is law, has been for a while.
Now, what does Obamacare have to do with Social Security, the National Parks, Defense contractors, Border Patrol, Air Traffic Controllers?
Republicans are refusing to fund the government, why?
Temper tantrum. "We can't get our way, so we will take our ball and go home!"
Buckets of Republican tears all over DC today.
Same thing it has to do with the everyday working class.....Obamacare has EVERYONE's money!!!! You are either going to have to be rich or sign up on welfare. I know that's why I have been working my azz off the last 28 years...so I could be forced to sign up on welfare.

The woman that implemented the IRS scandal is in charge of obamacare. That should make us feel all warm and fuzzy.
