The reason Elizabethtowns only a class 4 city is because thats what they wanted it to be and asked the legislature to be (from my understanding). So they can be rewarded with more money to finance their city due to the increased tax they can charge. Your point about Burnside basically proves what I am saying. Burnside asked for their class and they got it.
And if Somerset did grow by 50 thousand people I am fairly certain the legislature would at the very least let us be class 2 if we asked to do so.
But Somerset wouldn't grow by 50,000 people. Somerset would be the same, the Unified Local Government of Somerset/Pulaski county would govern an area of 63,000 people, that's it.

The legislature doesn't just make anyone whatever class city they ask. You're probably right about Elizabethtown, as they would be at least a class 3 if not a class 2, but Junction City fought for years to go from a class 5 to a class 4 after having been turned down before and they have 4x as many people as Burnside.

You must remember that we have several high ranking republicans in the area that would back whatever we wanted them too (Hal & Mitch). I am fairly certain they could help pull some strings and get it done.

I agree its not just as simple as wanting it to happen. You have to have the political ability for it to happen and no matter what a lot of people around here think, we do have that.

Wait, Mitch sure don't care about anything outside of Louisville, don't get how you say he's in the area.

And Hal wouldn't have any say either, as the city classes are decided by the state legislature and the state legislature is ran by Greg Stumbo and the Democrats.

If it don't go wet, I would at least like to see a beer store right at the city limit sign on the north side!

Notice how the "NO" vote hasn't moved in a few days, while the "YES" vote has been slowly catching up.

Watch, as soon as YES pulls ahead, NO's will jump by 100+.

Someone knows how to rig these polls.

This is nothing but a biased Topix poll. You can never judge the true mass on what is placed on here. People come in a hammer the poll to make it appear that they are winning.

Childish? Yep. Stupid? Yep. Reliable? NOPE!!!
