What are your thoughts on Briar Bowl in Somerset. Let me tell you my thoughts. It sucks, owner is tight, tight, tight with there money. Expect to go in and sweat your ass off. Don't eat in snack bar. Keeps raising prices and food NOT that good. Use to be good, now take your chances on NOT getting spoiled food.

The owner is a wonderful person. I have known her for over 20 years. They have not owned the buisness for very long- probably still trying to learn the ins and outs. Give them time. I also know her whole family. They are all good people, who work their butts off to earn a living. You don't see any of them sitting back getting food stamps or welfare- so lay off.

They were raised in Keno- South of Somerset. Great bunch of people. Mom and dad still live there. Who ever has a problem with them I would really like to know why. I have never known any of them to do anything to anybody. All they do is work and support their families. They never cause anyone any trouble. So saying bad stuff about any of them is just un-called for.

I never said they were BAD people. I am only stating that the Briar Bowl has gone down hill since they have owned it. Bobbi you said give them a chance to learn the ins and outs. They should have researched prior to buying the business and even at that you normally have to put money into it before it becomes profitable. How many customers do they need to lose before they realize they have a problem. Normally businesses try too please there customers NOT so here. AC sucks - you will sweat your ass off, oil machine is ALWAYS breaking down and once again the food quality has definetely gone down the tubes. They may be very nice as people but as far as business goes they suck!!!! Talk to some of the people that bowl there and several have commented they will not do any more leagues there - so what does that tell you?????????

Mystery I wasn't pointing my comments toward you. It was Cherry Pie I was commenting to. As far as buisness ventures go, I don't know what kind of "buisness" people they are. I only know them personally. To be honest, I haven't eaten there in years. And only been in there bowling once since they took ownership. If you will re-read my post you will see I didn't say anything about how cool or hot it is in the place and how delicious their food is. I just do not like people calling my friends "CRAZY" when they are as sane as anyone I know- not to mention, very friendly and easy going, hard working people.
And I'm sure they would like to put money into the place (I have never talked to them about this) but I assume they are just trying to get it in the black first. As you can see from reading the prior posts they are not rich people. Just had a dream of getting that way I guess. I'm sure when they are making a better profit, they will start putting more money into it.

I cannot imagine how hard it would be to run a buisness that I had went 1 million dollars in debt for, only to see it NOT make the profit that the previous owners said it would. I'd say they have their hands full, and may even wish it was a buisness they had not ventured into.

guess you havent seen the owner lose her temper. how can someone invest a million and instead of improving the place or at least keeping it the same, they let it go downhill? i know a lot of people who wont go to briar bowl anymore. they've lost a lot of business.

I currently bowl in a league there and it will be the LAST time. I wouldn't sign up for another league there if my life depended on it. Women's bathrooms are BEYOND NASTY. Had a bad tenderloin sandwich - tasted funny didn't eat it all & was on the tiolet all night. The people are nice enough it's just a dirty and unkept. Look at the employees that they hire and that in it's self should speak volumes. I suppose things are too expensive to pay for GOOD help. It's too bad prior owners decided to sell at least when they were running it the lanes were oiled, had ac and the food was very good.

hehehe
Does he get all red in the face, start crying, cuss and call people names, throw bowling balls, what? I might want to go there just to see that. What would make a buisness owner act liek that? What did you do to him?

There kitchen help seems to change weekly. That goes back to NOT wanting to pay for good help. Then you get high school kids who don't give a crap.

I have bowled there for a number of years and I think the new owners are very nice people. I guess they are like anyone else you push them far enough and they will get mad. As far as the air in the place they got it fixed last week. So don't post comments unless you know what you are talking about. I think they need some better employees but as far as that goes everything else is fine. You also can't judge a person just for who her family is. You people need to find something better to do with your time

What good does it do to get the ac fixed, which it is but then too cheap to turn it on to make the customers comfortable. Also heard ALL snack bar help has either quit or gave notice!!!! Sounds to me like she may want to shut down snack bar & concentrate on keeping the lanes oiled and keep the bowling before they LOSE it ALL. Customers are down right tired of all the crap.

to Tickle tickle tickle I would say you need to go back there. They may be fixed BUT they are NOT running them. Set thermostat @ 74 and only using 2 ac's. That's such a waste. Go back & check it out for yourself!!!!

You're all full of crap when you talk about the snack bar. The lady running it is one of the best cooks around and goes out of her way to please her customers. And yes, her and one other gave their "notices" on Thursday morning because of all the BS from the owners. Take all that "negative" BS somewhere else.
