When I was growing up my parents didn't have alot of extra cash to clothe us kids - so my Mom would make us clothes out of the bubble wrap. I especially enjoyed the smaller type bubblewrap over the larger type - those larger bubbled outfits make so much more noise than those little bubbled ones. Sure, sitting down wearing those pants was quite noisy at first - but then it'd quiet down after a few sittings. I remember the kids in my class always wanting to pop the bubbles on my clothing and I really didn't mind all those funny snappy sounds the other kids seemed to enjoy. I sure miss those days....

Hey Perfessor. So glad to see you stop by. I was starting to get a little worried about you.

Rain will be here be the weekend. The KY Derby looks to be a wet one this year. I hope all those ladies have rain gear for their hats.

Hi Hatti - you're right - that bubblewrap clothing was hot - it was way more comfortable to wear in the Wintertime than in the Summer!

I remember coming home from school one day on a really warm day & telling my Mom that my bubblewrap underwear & pants were really making my junk waaaay too warm & sweaty!:)

Good afternoon, Hatti and Friends!

I've brought garlands of violets to hang around our necks, and sprays of baby's breath to weave into our hair. Here's the fragrant lily-of-the-valley for our posies, and soft rose petals for our toesies. Now we are ready to dance around the May Pole!

A lovely sight, don't you think?

Happy May Day!

Ms Dickens , you described that beautifully ...I can see it all in full color and it is a grand site! Such fun that would be :)

Oh and TC .. sorry , no King is crowned. The men just escort the queen and her court.

Still very lovely, the queen is in white and her court is in pastel long dresses. The ceremony involve lots of dancing from the different dances schools. Very Festive.

Your town's celebration sounds quaint and so lovely! Dancing around the May Pole is an ancient custom. It brings to my mind images straight from Little House on the Prairie! I love knowing May Day is still celebrated....it's a reminder of a gentler, innocent time.

Will you be attending the festivities, Hatti? It sounds like good fun!
