This lady controlled all 6 shots.
This story was also on the news.which I found odd.To report something good about guns.
So all you anti gun people call this family and complain about guns. The fbi says this type of situation happens aprox.2000 times a year.

"It happened in Loganville, Georgia, about 35 miles east of Atlanta.“The woman was working in an upstairs office when she spotted a strange man outside a window, according to Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman,” reported WSBTV.com .

The unfamiliar man, who the woman initially perceived to be a solicitor, began ringing the door bell several times. The 37-year-old woman dialed her husband at work, who told her to “Get the kids and hide” as he proceeded to call 911, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Next, the woman gathered her 9-year-old twins and hightailed it to a crawlspace as the burglar broke into the home using a crowbar and began rummaging through the occupants’ belongings.

Eventually, the intruder was able to locate the crawlspace where the family was hiding.“The perpetrator opens that door. Of course, at that time he’s staring at her, her two children and a .38 revolver,” Sheriff Chapman told reporters.

The woman fired all six of her revolver’s rounds, missing only once. According to the Sheriff,“She’s standing over him, and she realizes she’s fired all six rounds. And the guy’s telling her to quit shooting.”

Paul Slater (Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office)“’The guy’s face down, crying,’ the sheriff said. The woman told him to stay down or she’d shoot again,” reported AJC.com . At that point, the woman grabbed her children and fled to a neighbor’s home.

The literally banged-up criminal managed to survive being shot five times, including a shot to the face and another to his neck, and was able to flee the house in a vehicle, but later “crashed into a wooded area and collapsed in a nearby driveway,” the Sheriff said. He added that they found him on the ground saying,“Help me. I’m close to dying.”"

i believe all the home invasions would come to a quick stop if more of this were to happen. i can't imagine what this fellow would have done.

the castle law gives the person the right to stand up and fight when invaded. the law used to say the citizen had to retreat and let the burglar have his way.

i'm just sorry, that ain't going to happen at MY house.

Bravo to this woman. I think the only thing she maybe did wrong was to use all 6 rounds too quickly. She should have saved one to place between his eyes just to make sure he never comes back. When he told her to stop shooting she could have said "okie dokie, right after this one", lights out.

I would love to read stories like this every day and all day long.

There are about 115 MILLION households in the US, so when something happens in 0.0000173 % of those, it's not exactly national news.

You are like the media, you would exploit a tragedy and praise it just to make your point. I assume you were being sarcastic but I wouldn't advise that you ever say something like that to my face. I still have tears in my eyes everytime I think of what happened to those children.

Read below and you will see that approximately 6,850 times every day, a lawful gun owner uses his/her gun to stop a violent crime.

Gun Control Fact-Sheet 2004 / From Gun Owners Foundation

by Gun Owners Foundation 8001 Forbes Place, Suite 102 Springfield, VA 22151

1. Highlights

* Guns are used 2.5 million times a year in self-defense. Law-abiding citizens use guns to defend themselves against criminals as many as 2.5 million times every year—or about 6,850 times a day.(1) This means that each year, firearms are used more than 80 times more often to protect the lives of honest citizens than to take lives.(2)

"Concealed carry laws have reduced murder and crime rates in the states that have enacted them. According to a comprehensive study which reviewed crime statistics in every county in the United States from 1977 to 1992, states which passed concealed carry laws reduced their rate of murder by 8.5%, rape by 5%, aggravated assault by 7% and robbery by 3%.(4)"

"Twice as many children are killed playing football in school than are murdered by guns. That’s right. Despite what media coverage might seem to indicate, there are more deaths related to high school football than guns. In a recent three year period, twice as many football players died from hits to the head, heat stroke, etc.(45), as compared with students who were murdered by firearms (22) during that same time period.(6)"

After the hysteria and faux rage, all sides will go back to their corners until EACH side jumps up and down yelling their positions when the next episode occurs. Americans will always be armed, if they want to be. All this getting worked up over anything else is just white noise until the press and people move on to the next hot topic in the rotation or get distracted by Justin Beiber or other such nonsense.

Also, for the record, Alex Jones has a radio show and is considered 'media' and if someone comes to 'take away all guns', shoot them.

Finally we are on the right track, now do something about mental illness besides medicating them and sending them home to watch tv and play video games.

"Officials in Southington, a town of roughly 40,000 residents 30 miles southwest of Newtown, will hold the Violent Video Games Return Program on Jan. 12, offering $25 gift certificates to local businesses to anyone who turns in pugnacious games, music and movies. The merchandise will later be destroyed, according to SouthingtonSOS, a community organization launched following Hurricane Katrina in 2005."

I agree with the "stop medicating them" point. But tv and video games don't cause violence. They cause entertainment. If you watch tv or play a video game and have the desire to commit a crime, then it's the individual who committed the crime.

If violent media doesn't influence the viewers then why do companies pay $30 million for a one second advertisment during the super bowl. Most ad agencies are headed by psychologists who know how to trick the human mind into buying something they don't need.

There are many factors involved but you will have to admit that a video game that keeps track of "body count" and spent shell casings sure doesn't help.

True, and when the 2nd Amendment was written, they were using single shot muskets.
