Don't fill up in Somerset. I've been buying gas out of town for a while now. Just on princple. That's my protest. If 1000 people would do it, they'd feel it enough to correct their behavior. I've known people that have lived here for alot of years that don't buy their gas here.

I heard on the radio a little while ago that gas prices are expected to continue to rise over the next few months and will most likely go above the $ 4.00 a gallon mark. I am not looking forward to this, its getting to where people can't afford fuel to go anywhere.

It's not just Somerset. Gas prices are rising nationally. The reasons for the rise? The price of crude is close to $100 a barrel, there is continued instability in the Middle East and because the world economy is improving, the demand for oil and gas is increasing. This is all part of the cyclical nature of gasoline pricing. However, if you look at what gas cost 30 or 40 years ago, put that price in today's dollars (adjusted for inflation) this is some of the cheapest gasoline in our nation's history.

Today's price in Whitley City is $3.75, just saw it was $3.86 in Somerset. Scott County Tn. was $3.49 yesterday. Talked to a fuel trucker a while ago and he said it will be $4.25 by middle of March. Eventually we won't be able to afford to drive to work so we can pay our taxes and bills. Food stamps applicants will skyrocket then for sure.
