People in Monticello are being watched about their activity and where abouts. So many people have complained about them going to clubs and going on trips and buying unnecessary food in grocery stores while being on welfare. Hard working people of WAYNE COUNTY are feed up with this stupid moron stuff. About time they started watching their activity.

People have needs that the government must take care of if it means taking from the working class so be it.

Some do, I agree but they are a lot of fat obese people in monticello that are just lazy and looking for a handout. A lot of them have never had a real job other than a little baby sitting. That is lazy to say the least.

Yeah they need to get off their fat lazy rears and get jobs. I say place a four year lifetime max on all public assistance after that get a job. And while you're taking handouts you get drug tests and work in government assigned roles to learn skills for when the support ends.

I don't know about Monticello people but Somerset people only got small raises this year. Working folks need to work longer hours and take second job so those of us who bask in your profits can enjoy it a little more. Maybe if you would work two jobs instead of wasting your time on Topix complaining all of us (including you) would get bigger raises.

This is being referred to people that have hardly ever worked and are able to take trips go to clubs, smokes, etc. People like that seem to get a whole lot more than people like you. I don't think anyone would fault you for what little you get. People like you in your situation should get more but they don't.

Are we to assume that you work either second or third shift? Perhaps you just have the day off beings as you're posting midday?

Oh wait, school hasn't started back up yet from the holidays, has it...

My bad.

Carry on.

They do it in Somerset as well. As I sit here I know of one that is his way south right NOW to get his pills. Drawing disability, nothing whatsoever wrong with him. Wouldn't strike a lick at a snake, keeps the roads hot 24/7. Lounges around Sulley's, screws around on his wife....and it is OBVIOUS. But every time he gets caught smoking pot and gets kicked out of a doctor, the MEDICAID PEOPLE get him another. How's them apples????Gag.

Here's another instance where I wish you were registered user so we could private message each other. I honestly believe I know who you're talking about, Tubby. And that's an oddity for me beings as we "Nopes" basically make it a lifestyle habit of stick to ourselves in this town.. Personally, I don't trust easily and the one time I recently TRIED to give someone from this town any of my trust, I got burned. Burned like a piece of toast.

It's a shame that so many citizens around here have been raised to live with their hands outstretched instead of putting their hands toward an honest days work... Two or three generations of these learned traits still reign in many parts of the Appalachians.. I don't know how we'll ever be able to break the cycle of users and abusers who've grown up this way. One thing is for certain, they've learned very well how to beat the system. And they are to blame for it breaking down..

There is a Mexican in Monticello that had $5,000 worth of food stamps on his card! How can anyone have that much?

Nope, I feel like I might know you...but at the very least I know your heart. Like you, I am leery of letting anyone know who I am. I had a recent VERY bad run in with SHERIFF TODD WOODS over something not
my fault and am simply laying low, period. Stay safe my friend. we will know each other when the time is right. Take care, Tubby

Actually they need to cut out food stamps period!!! they need to give these people "the old COMMODITIES" like people used to get from public assistance. These included cheese, dried eggs, dried milk, peanut butter, dried beans, dried split peas dried fruit like raisens, canned luncheon meat, flour and meal, and cereal. this is all very nutritional food and no one starved to death.this would give some of these mothers the incentative to work. at least learn to cook....these people have it too good these days, they can go to the store and buy any kind of food, mostly junk food for their children(and it's all free) they can sell the food stamps for money,or trade it out.I say go back to commodities and some people might get a job!!

Food stamp benefits don't expire for either six or months. A family of five making minimum wage 20 hours a week gets about $500 a month in food benefits. So it would theoretically be possible for that family to accumulate a few thousand dollars worth of benefits IF they never used them. There is NO WAY that anyone is getting $5000 a month.

Also, individuals MUST provide proof of citizenship or legal work status in order to obtain SNAP (food stamp) or TANF (welfare) assistance. I'm not going to pretend that these documents can't be forged or illegally obtained, but that is a VERY expensive process, and most people who undergo it do so to work, not to get $500 a month in food.

And finally, to the poster who commented that there should be a four year lifetime max for welfare, the lifetime max for adults is five years. Children remain eligible until they turn 18, at which point they can apply for their own case if they maintain a separate household and would themselves only be eligible for 5 years lifetime max of assistance.(And really, should we starve kids because of their parents' behavior???)

Any able bodied worker is eligible for only a few months of assistance unless they are enrolled in GED classes, college, or working through the welfare office doing some type of job appropriate for their skills.

Just random info.... Just so the facts are straight. If you go to USDA.gov , they have a LOT of info on SNAP.

You might be surprised how much people get. I was a case worker a dew years ago and had a few clients making $1200+ per month. It depends on household size. I'm sure benefit amounts have increased since then.

there should be a 1 year limit on food stamps and that would give people time to find employment....if they are ever going to work.
