So now we have a department of the government...the IRS, actively targeting Americans because of their political beliefs? This is the same department that up until this week, claimed no such activity had taken place. Now it is revealed that senior personnel were involved in this as far back as 2011.
Already apologists for the IRS, govt and Obama Administration have been on TV talk shows claiming no ill will or agenda. REALLY?

Just how much power should we give the Federal Government? Many have long said that it already has far too much and scandals like this are the result of such centralized omnipotent power.

By the way, the IRS is the same department that has been charged with enforcing the mandates in Obamacare. Do you feel good about that?

Tax exempt status should be given only to true charities. No political or religious groups should be eligible.

I think you've missed the point. Government does not have the power to target any group or organization based their politics. It's illegal and unconstitutional. The problem here isn't the receipiants of tax exempt status but, rather the illegal targeting and bullying of those groups by govt.

Your comment above...religious groups that help feed the homeless or shelter battered women shouldn't be eligible for tax exempt status? Ridiculous!

<quoted text>I would certainly scrutinize the tax exempt status of anti-tax groups. Makes perfect sense to me to target those that are most likely trying to game the system. Same goes for the preachers who use their pulpits for political purposes.
That's not surpising coming from a flaming liberal Marxist like yourself. Your use of the word "target" is right in line with the Obama war on Conservatives. Congrats on that. Idiot.

Yeah. I guess that's why BOTH political parties are now calling for heads to roll. I guess that's why the acting IRS Commish just lost his job too, huh?
This is just the beginning of the scandal. Stay tuned.

The fair tax will abolish income tax and the IRS. it is a house bill now. Let's drum up support for the fair tax now! Our forefathers did not want an income tax. Why should we?

Probably not but, we have seen the IRS used to surpress the vote and political activism of over 500 Conservative groups over the period of 27 months following the 2010 mid-term elections. All while left-wing liberal groups had their tax exempt status applications sail right on thru.
Now, evidence is coming out that information about GOP and Conservative campaign donors has been divulged and used to target those individuals as a way to surpress other campaign donations.
Anyone want to argue that this is the most lawless bunch of thugs and racketeers ever to infest the White House?

But, the Obama administration would have us believe it was simply a couple of out of control people in an office in Cincinnati. Complete B.S.!
The IRS is now being used in the same way the EPA has been used in the past, as a thug enforcer for the administration. This is what the liberal left-wing is all about. They eagerly blackmail, threaten, harass and supress any opposition to their plan to change America into their vision of a Marxist utopia.
It's time to bring in a special prosecutor with unlimited power of subpeona and the ability to indict ANYONE within the Federal Govt. that is found to have contributed or been involved in this illegal and unconstitutional activity. This needs to be done TODAY!

Need more evidence that the Obama administration was pulling the strings in the IRS scandal? Well, it looks like some interesting thing started happening the day after the head of the union that IRS employees are required to join, paid a visit on the President...

Obama is a Chicago politician, he is merely a product of his environment, period.

Unfortunately he also has an uncommon knack for speechifying lies couched in flowery prose, and we've a media too simpleminded to seek the truth.

Not so fast Ms. Lerner. You waived your right to 5th Ammendment protection when you opened that angry mouth of yours in making that opening statement.
And if you're as innocent as you claim, why take the 5th anyway?
It's becoming more and more obvious that this 'War on Conservatives' was directed by the White House. It's time for an independant prosecutor with unlimited power of subpeona and the ability indict anyone who had a hand in all of this.

Who is Lois Lerner? Basically, she is a attack-dog for the Obama administration. She has a history of using her positions to attack Christian groups and Conservatives. After bringing a failed lawsuit against the Christian Coalition she was ultimately appointed to her current position at the IRS that empowered her to harass and intimidate those same groups. There is a brilliant and detailed write-up of her nefarious career at the Weekly Standard...
