What if there were a list of non gun owners? I'll bet the media wouldn't stand for that.

Under the idea that guns prevent crime these residences would now be less likely to be broken into. If this happened its wrong because it is an attempt to label gun owners as a threat to the public which is horse crap.

It may just let the criminals know that if they go to those houses there is a high likelihood they'll l be shot.

Come into mine illegally and I'll shoot to protect my family as well.

If our local rag even thinks for one minute that they're going to put my name in the paper for something a legal citizen, a private citizen, and a law abiding citizen is able to posses, I'll take the issue all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary and I'll sue the pants off of anyone and everyone involved.
I am not a felon nor is anyone in my household. I am breaking absolutely no crimes by protecting my wive and children, and this type of publicity could make a home, a family and gun owner the target for danger thanks to advertising that they are in possession of any firearms in my opinion.
This is purely paving the way for some thief to sit back and wait for you to leave home so they can enter and steal what you have thanks to the paper letting them know that you have at least one valuable item worth breaking in for.
So the way I see this issue, it's possibly an infringement of privacy, a case of endangering my welfare and that of my family, it could be construed as aiding and abetting crime via unlawful taking should I get robbed thanks to any publicity, not to mention that it's an abuse of my personal privacy.
I'd imagine that a hot shot attorney from out of town could probably cook up multiple other charges in addition to these. No attorney in this town is worth a grain of salt. I don't trust a single one of them to be honest enough to refuse a bribe. So out of town, off the grid, unrelated to any of our good ol'boys, and completely uninvolved with the City of Somerset would be the only way to go..
And believe me, I have the money for retaining council to back my ass up. This is the most ludicrous thing I've ever heard of. Broadcasting and revealing private citizens names and addresses simply for owning a firearm. Better not happen around here. I smell massive law suits on the horizon and am not afraid of a fight.

I agree with you but it is a matter of public record.

Why not print people who buy alcohol? It kills more people in this country than guns

According to public record we should be able to identify those without guns. What's the difference?

Great, suspect your drug customer is undercover cop? Follow him home if his address is on gun list BINGO!!!!!!
All cops have to have carry permit so when they travel out of state they avoid jail themselves!
I was told even state undercover officers can be found on open record law list.

which side of fence are you on now!

What makes you think that a drug customer can't legally have a carry permit? That would only work if he was a convicted felon. I guess the chances are that if he is a customer, he'd be a convicted felon.

A gun nut does not get permit just guns. Gun nut does not want you or police to know what he/she has in home. Go to flea markets see how many guns for sale no id required.

I copied this from another forum ... Thank you Ricky for posting this ....

Why Carry a Gun?

My old grandpa said to me 'Son, there comes a time in every man's life when he stops bustin' knuckles and starts bustin' caps and
usually it's when he becomes too old to take an ass whoopin.'

I don't carry a gun to kill people.
I carry a gun to keep from being killed.

I don't carry a gun to scare people.
I carry a gun because sometimes this world can be a scary place.

I don't carry a gun because I'm paranoid.
I carry a gun because there are real threats in the world.

I don't carry a gun because I'm evil.
I carry a gun because I have lived long enough to see the evil in the world.

I don't carry a gun because I hate the government.
I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of government.

I don't carry a gun because I'm angry.
I carry a gun so that I don't have to spend the rest of my life hating myself for failing to be prepared.

I don't carry a gun because I want to shoot someone.
I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed, and not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon.

I don't carry a gun because I'm a cowboy.
I carry a gun because, when I die and go to heaven, I want to be a cowboy.

I don't carry a gun to make me feel like a man.
I carry a gun because men know how to take care of themselves and the ones they love.

I don't carry a gun because I feel inadequate.
I carry a gun because unarmed and facing three armed thugs, I am inadequate.

I don't carry a gun because I love it.
I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful to me.

Police protection is an oxymoron.
Free citizens must protect themselves.
Police do not protect you from crime, they usually just investigate the crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess.

Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too old to take an ass whoopin'.....author unknown (but obviously brilliant)

A LITTLE GUN HISTORY

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
----------

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
----------

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.
----------

China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
----------

Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
----------

Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
----------

Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million educated people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
----------

Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million.
----------

You won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information.

Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late!
