I am now a member of the Y, and it is absolutely beautiful. Expensive yes, but the fact that they put the forethought and energy into making it a "green" building is worth the price for me. They have all of the heating supplied with geothermal and the pool is cleaned with UV. It also does have trails outdoors and cross country skiing as well.
As far as Zza Zza ad her/his comment, I think that your proposal that everyone build pools is perhaps a bigger ecological problem than the Y. In addition, the sense of community is appreciated and needed. The building is no offensive and is next to Skips which is not the most beautiful building in the world.
The farms do have to sell, because many of you "NEED" to by houses that are far too large for your own real needs and farmers can make more money than selling goods to a community that by in large doesn't buy from them.
This is exactly what this community needs and would hope that Zsa Zsa would come and see the value of this community and perhaps open up her thoughts to less destructive, hate mongering thoughts as she stated above about farmers selling land for money to the "damn Indians". These comments are what makes this town of which I live seem to the outside world as a bigoted exclusively WASPish town which it isn't, only a select few care.
Join the Y, it is fabulous.

Where did you find the membership cost? I'm doing a google search and it landed me here instead of finding a page with actual ymca fees on it?
