Apparently you haven't thought about that. I think that you are a person that thinks that everyone is always doing wrong. I understand that he admitted to it but it was for the deal that he got. For your information about the girl she left right after she saw them arrest Gunny, so no one had a chance to say anything to her and we all know that it was her because of her action of leaving after his arrested that morning and never returning back to school. I will keep defending him because I know that he is innocent and he just admitted to it so that he wouldn't have to spend time in Jail. Plus he had adopted kids too and now that girl has ruined his life of every getting to be a father again.<quoted text>
Yes, I did think about that. But I don't believe it. I believe he told the truth when he admitted to this crime. I appreciate your sincerity and your loyalty to your mentor, but I still think you are fooling yourself and believing what you want to believe.
Maybe nothing will change your mind about this case, but in the future I think it would benefit you to remember that nobody is perfect and even people we idolize and admire are human beings who can make mistakes. I hope you remember that the next time you think "He (she) couldn't possibly have done that, he (she) is too good a person." People make mistakes and some people deceive others to get what they want in life. There are millions of liars and con artists out there who seem on the surface like perfectly charming people, but that is part of their act to take advantage of you. I think you are still being fooled (willingly) by this person but I hope in the future you will be more skeptical towards other people in your life (especially authority figures) and keep in mind that just because you like and admire someone does not mean that they cannot make mistakes or behave in dishonorable ways.
I am not directly comparing "Gunny" to Hitler or Stalin, but decades after the deaths of these mass murderers there are still thousands (if not millions) of people who think well of them and think they could not possibly have committed the horrible crimes they actually did. Gunny has you fooled. I hope he does not try to take advantage of the trust you have in him in the future. But I think he is already doing that as demonstrated by your continued, vocal defense of him. I wish you luck in life and a more skeptical attitude toward those in positions of authority that you feel so much for. Be well.
