When this proposal goes through you cheap skates will be S.O.L. Best idea ever to protect a beautiful riding trail from toothless, alcoholic, tobacco chewing, pill snorting trash on four wheelers tearing up the the mountains and littering with their garbage. You all will be to stingy to buy a pass, because you will have to do without a pill then. But us out of staters will enjoy these trails that were made by you inbreds. It might even be a Land Rover or Hummer only trail. That way trash in bondoed up Jeeps, and junky ATVs and UTVs won't be on our trail.
Rhododendron Glades the future of the Hatfield McCoy Trail System. Hopefully we can change the name of HM trails too. To be more sophisticated. Lol.

To the NYer, I live on Ivy and here is a word of warning for you. If you want to talk about the people who ride there like you know them and have the right to judge them, then you are wrong. I dont know if they do or do not have their teeth, but they will definitely kick your ass. While I do not like the amount of trash that is being thrown everywhere on the trails, I love these trails and EVERYONE has the right to ride on them. They should not be commercialized for the wealthy and YOU should be ashamed of yourself for judging these people. lastly, do not refer to them as "your trails" because they are not.

By the voting, it looks like it is going to be called Rhododendron Glades. If this goes into effect, you will have the right to ride them if you buy a one year user permit and follow the trail rules. That is, unless, it becomes a Hummer or Land Rover only trail. Then, unless you buy a permit and buy a Hummer or Land Rover, you will not be allowed to drive on the trail. This is looking like it will be a high class trail and many of my clients and friends are looking forward to the implementation and renaming of this trail.

I believe with respect to the owner that has tried to give us all a free ride for so long until it started to soct his family money by theives cutting their timber and trashing the place, I think we should name it Ivywood. I have heard they may have it sold to a company that want to develop it into a park-like so Ivywood sounds good in respect of their trees(wood) that has been stolen.
The negative people need to think of all of their neighbors that are unemployed and of all of the jobs it could bring. Look it put Gilbert on the map. I think motels, food chains, four wheel dealerships and much more could come our way.

Personally I have hated the Hatfield McCoy Trails system since it began but like most things in life, there isn't much I can do about it so I go with the flow and avoid the place like the plague because it is anything but fun when you have to ride on a trail that is overly restrictive, does little more than go around in circles, and has a bunch of idiots from out of state who barely know what a trail is let alone how to ride on one.

If they want to make Ivy Branch a part of the Hatfield McCoy Trails, I say let them because there are plenty of places that are much larger and far more enjouable to ride on, if you know where to find them.

I always laugh when a see a forum thread from someone from out of state looking for locals who know of better places to ride than the Hatfield McCoy Trails only to get nothing but misleading information. The locals, the smart one's anyway, know better than to reveal their favorite riding places to the masses so they can come and screw it up.

it's been a fav. summer place for locals for a long time and we need to fight it as much as possible. just so the state can make money to waste is not a good reason.

After looking at the big picture while connecting the dots of all the existing Hatfield McCoy Trails locations and currently planned expansions, it becomes very clear that they will most likely try to take not only Ivy but Hobet as well.

Keep in mind, that it has always been their intention to connect all their trails to form one large trail system for the tourists to play on while leaving the locals nowhere to go, nowhere fun anyway. After they take Harts Creek, all that remains is Ivy and their planned Madison expansion which I bet money is none other than Hobet itself. Bastards!

Don't believe me, have a look and see for yourself.

Expansion plans from their own blog:

They are not going to take Ivy, they tried it in the past and it didn't go through. Ivy is not big enough for them and besides that they really have no entrance into it. They talked about building a bridge across the river but how about the railroad tracks. I don't see this happening in the near future. Hobet maybe, not ivy.

I am so glad you agree with us that we have beautiful riding trials here in WV. And sad to say, I agree that the pill snorting and trashing up the mountains with their garbage is a horrible thing. I would like to see that kind of behavior monitored. However.... Saying that we are all "inbreds" and insulting our culture is going too far. You are welcome to ride, but leave the attitude in New York because it's not welcome here!!!
