Tax payers are being thrown in jail after they comply with the ordinances but refusing to pay the fines, being told to cut their grass less than 2 weeks at a time and written up if their chimney is painted 2 diffent shades. QOL is a good thing but without limits, it'll continue to be use as a legal way to harass people.

. So if you don't like your rights being violated, your only option is to move out? I have no problem with qol if they are giving citations to homes that really need to, however writing somebody one for a expired tag for a car in the backyard is going to far! Why not move to NYC where the nanny state is now trying to tell you how much coke you can drink.

I live in Lawrenceville, i have a neighbor that reported me when i setup my pool, i was fully within regulations, so when he could not get me for that he reported me for "trash & rubbish" which consisted of 2 garbage cans filled with aluminum cans, and a crystal springs water jug.....the cans will be recycled when the 3rd can is full(anyone else that recycles knows that its not worth bringing a little at a time) and then the water jug is outside so when they pass on the route they will see the jug (if one is needed) and swap it out for a full one, i pay my damn taxes and dont need this crap. but i just reported him for a chain link fence he has on the side of his house on a corner lot.....take that you a hole

I just took over my mom's house, since she retired and moved to FL. Before that, I lived inside the Lawrenceville City Limits and had to deal with the LPD's QoL unit. I was given a warning about mowing my grass, so I did. I was given another warning 3 days later for the SAME THING, because apparently letting wild flowers grow in the flower bed was a bad thing. As long as I don't have to deal with that with the GPD's QoL unit, I won't have a problem with them. Though the minute they try to get into my backyard, I'll be asking for a warrant. Cop or not, you can't walk into someone's yard just because you feel like it. What happened to common decency?

Or because you stand at your bathroom window watching your neighbor work in the back yard, like the pervert you are dispatcher.
This is a waste of time for police,we need the police for more important crimes.Obviously the Q.O.L. unit is glad to be off the street where the true crime is, they are probably the laughing stock of Gwinnett Police. What a waste of tax payers money.
They did not need to use police officers for this.

You're absolutely right about using police officers for this. Most Counties have regular "Zoning' employees and they handle the job much cheaper. They give out warnings and then citations if the problem isn't fixed,or atleast addressed, in said time.

Police officers and common decency don't go together at all anymore. They used to be on a higher standard...now half of them are sorrier than the people they arrest...a legitimate reason arrest!
Good thing you didn't go out of town for a week...those wildflowers could have gotten REALLY out of hand.Lol

My mother has lived in the same house in Gwinnett county for 30 years. She is retired and on a fixed income but she keeps her house in good repair. Although, she has very little grass due to large trees in the yard, the police come by and constantly give her citations to cut her grass. It is never high so this is confusing. They have also given her citations on 2 occasions to clean the algae off of the bottom of her house. It comes back every couple of months because it is so shady. I think it is completely ridiculous. Those who assume that citations are only being given to "lazy" people who do not keep up their yards are missing the point. It is not happening for the good of the community. It is just a money making scheme for the county and they should be ashamed. The crime in Gwinnett county has increased while police spend time harassing senior citizens. This will only change if enough people complain. Those of you who like the Quality of Life unit can form your own neighborhood committees.

If you new anything about HOA's, you would know that if one is not already set up, 100% of the folks in a neighborhood will not go for it. In the past I was a C21 Broker. If my buyers saw junk cars, tall grass, etc, they would want me to find area area for them to look in. If the outside of your home is a mess, would really hate to see the inside.

I understand that there needs to be some control over how people keep up their homes and that is what a HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION is for. Ever heard of that? Instead of punishing the whole county for what a handfull of people do, leave it up to the Association to manage it. And if they don't have one then create one for each individual neighborhood. But then that would elimate the extra cash flow for the county.

PUT YOUR BIG BOY PANTIES ON. WHY DOES A COPS HAVE TO TELL YOU TO CUT YOUR GRASS. IF YOU ARE LAZY, LIVE IN AN APT.

Looks like it still takes little intelligence to be a Gwinnett PD. Algae is algae. it doesn't morph into an entirely different type of plant.

I had an argument with my wife and she was upset and not thinking and called the police because her father was at our house pressuring her to call them. My wife had a scratch on her cheek and neither one of us know how she got it because I never hit her I only held her hands so that she didn't hit me and we didn't get into a fight. She told this to them and she said she called them because she was upset but she wasn't trying to press any charges but she wanted to take our kids to her parents house and didn't agree. The officer put out a warrant for my arrest anyway and has been constantly coming to our house with no warrant searching through our home and told her they will be back every day until they get me and if she doesn't answer the door they will kick it in. They have made my wife a victim and at the same time a victim to their harassment and my children as well and I never did anything to harm my wife so I'm a victim as well and I will not turn myself in with legal representation.. Bottom line Gwinnett co. Police department is out of control.

If you guys think the QOL unit is out of control let me tell you about the street beaters. Not only did we receive a citation for my sons bmw was pulled next to the drive way but I was on my way to work this last week, not speeding, breaking no traffic laws and my car was towed and i had to call my husband to come pick me up. I have a car that my father was kind enough to help me get and he himself is a retired dept sheriff out of NC. Being my car is in his name the tags are in his name and yes it is registered in NC. Well guess what it is also legal in NC. I have already been to court for this as I have no way humanly possible to get my name on the registration of this car, the jugde made me pay NO fines but yes I am actually "guilty" as I live in this hell hole of Gwinnett county, but the judge never said don't drive your car only that if I got another ticket for this tag just come back to court. Well I will be back in court and can tell you the so called cops that serve and protect......LMFAO....sorry couldn't stop laughing towed my perfectly legal in NC car and informed me not to ever drive my car in ga again or they would tow it again......I feel so safe and secure now knowing that harassing a woman on her way to work and citing my husband for the bmw in my own yard is top priority. I just know I will sleep better tonight.

Homeowners Association. Very few people speak English in Gwinnett County. Most of the homes are now rentals. It would not work. The majority of people in Gwinnett are Illegals anyway. Be happy that you don't live here.

I do believe that the county does try to help but there are so many renters that destroy a home and move on to another. Also, there is white trash.
