I was really impressed when I went to town this morning and saw all the flags displayed all thru town, back street. It looks really neat first time I have seen this. Thumbs up to whoever came up with the idea.

The flags were a Community Partners project. I think the lady who came up with the idea was named Sue Olsen??? Good job Sue or who ever they look wonderful and make me proud of the men and women who have given their lives for our freedom.

Yes, it was Sue. The paper had a few articles about it and there was an application for anyone who wanted to purchase one in honor or memory of someone. Great idea!

These were so pretty when I drove through last week. Wonderful idea. I wish I had read the papers and I would have bought four. Is it too late now?

I don't think it is too late. I bought a flag for my house. I am waving it proudly. You can get a big one 3ft by 5ft and an aluminum pole at walmart for about 10 bucks. Let's all get one and display our patriotism. I am sorry I can't spell that great.

remember the responsibility that comes with flying the flag...the post office doesn't do well with that..my husband, a veteran, always cringes when he sees flags torn, left out in rain, touching the ground and not folded properly..not trying to be a jerk, but the pride of the flag includes caring for it.

im sorry streetdoc..i should have let you all know we had a meeting yesterday...i wanted to let everyone know and will probably start a new thread...anyway, the pool party will be july 10 at 5:oopm..switch over to the new thread to see what we'll be doing...

and yes, if your flags do get torn, very dirty or just worn out...please take them to the american legion and turn them in..they have a ceremony to dispose of old flags correctly..check with american legion, their office is across from the elementary school in the old trailer next to the rock building

The town I live in put FLAGS out for all national Holidays the American Legion members are in charge of putting them up and down.It is beautiful to drive through my hometown on national holidays an see the Flags. Also if you put a flag up at home you are suppose to have a light shining on it at night. You can go on the American Legion web site and find out lots of things on the FLAG.GOD BLESS AMERICA.

Two of the most sacred things to me are-The AMERICAN FLAG and also the BIBLE. I can't and never could stand to have anything sit on top of a BIBLE. It really bothers me to see a raggy ole FLAG.

I would add a few things to your statement, and I agree with your statement, but seeing a serviceman or woman brings tears to my eyes. Hearing the star spangled banner or America the beautiful. My daughter lived next to Francis Scott Key area and she had a roof top deck...watching the fireworks....made you really think. I now have her phones and they play america the beautiful instead of ringing....She loved her country, and said she would cry when she landed at Dulles in VA outside DC...we have the best country in the world. Protect and defend it. Don't let anyone destroy it. It takes us all.

Daily Horoscope for January 1

Capricorn

Happy New Year, Capricorn! I don't think the hair of the dog will help much this morning! If you're socialising again today, keep a rein on your expenses, as there could be a slight confusion in financial matters. Friends will be at your side and bail you out if there is a crisis. Use your strong internal discipline to accomplish your personal goals this year.
