Can anyone please tell me how long it takes for unemployment to get straightened out? I'm just curious as to why it's taking so long for the verification process. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I don't know either but it's been 5 weeks and we keep hearing the same thing: they can't verify that we are laid off! How hard is it to fax some papers!

We have tried to do something but keep hitting a brick wall. We are being told there's nothing we can do but sit back and wait but I'm sorry 6 weeks is way to long!

We have called Nashville everyday for 4 weeks and nothing has changed! I'm over being given the run around because no one wants to do their job! We do not know what else to do or who else to call!

Well I just talked to Nashville yet again and I finally got some straight answers and hopefully some help. They have told me that my former employer has never sent any paperwork in for me or any of us and they can't get them to although the have sent it to them several times! Hopefully this will be the last time I have to call and find out what's going on because honestly I'm sick and tired of being lied to and given the runaround! I may not be at the top of the list of important people but almost 6 weeks without money when bills are needing to be paid is way to long to!

It took me almost a month to get mine. I received a call from the unemployment office to get my side of the story why I was fired and the next Monday they had approved my Unemployment. I would keep calling to get answers.

I'm still sitting on the couch and it's been over a year now. Is it by choice? Hell no! I look every week and have had four interviews in my field of work in the past year. I follow up and badger for a job, yet I'm still unemployed. Don't you dare think everyone is a damn statistic cause we are not. Trust me, I can live without one, but do I want to be a stay at home mom? Another hell no!

its been six weeks for me as well :( havent heard anything. i was able to get the name and number of my adjuster and i have given her a call 3 times in the last 2 weeks and each time its just voice mail.. no matter what time i call. still havent heard back. at this point im getting evicted, lost my girl friend because of the stress, car is gonna get repoed, prob lose my harley soon, credit cards are maxed out and will soon be a late payment. i can barely put gas in my car. my credit score is just taking a nose dive. once thast happens its very hard to get your score back up. now i understand they are busy but we need a better system. people cant be waiting this long for benifits. did i mention i have 4 kids?! they should hire me! and you! why are they short staffed? we know unemployment rate is up!! why not hire for those rep positions. kill 2 birds with one stone. wtf.. im so stressed..

To holding on; the way we finally got ours which was 8 weeks we had to keep calling and calling the Nashville number and email them if you can because it will help you get a call back. I understand completely what you are going through. The problem with our claim was that our former employer had never sent in our employee id number which helped the unemployment office identify us and our claim, once we got this little bit of info all we had to do was fax our layoff paper to them and two days later we had ours in one lump sum. I hope this helps out and I will say a prayer for you that everything works out.

Why not be out looking for a job instead of sitting at home doing nothing. I see now hiring signs out everywhere, just because it's not the job that you want you won't apply. You are the reason this country is in the debt that it is in now. Get a JOB any JOB and quit your complaining!!!!

I have been applying and looking for jobs! I am enrolled in school and almost done and it may sound mean but I have worked most of my life and forgive me if I am drawing what unemployment I have. Being home has allowed me to further my education and hopefully be able to be well qualified in the field I am trying to get a job in! I am sorry if trying to better my life is offensive to you but at least I am doing something instead of sitting at home! I also must disagree big time that I am the reason the country is in the shape it's in. The country is in the shape it's in because in today's times to many people are expecting something for nothing and aren't willing to get off their sorry butts to work. I hope that all those who have and are having problems with unemployment have better luck in the future because until you have been in the position that we have been in, please do not tell us what we should be doing!
