So Lakeside Resort operated by UCHRA, located on Cookeville Highway (SR 56) north of Smithville lost $250,000.00 last year.
Using state and federal tax dollars the geniuses running the place built an Olympic size swimming pool to enhance Lakeside. The only problem is the Olympic size swimming pool was built in a flood zone and when Center Hill Lake is up each spring the Olympic size swimming pool is flooded!
No problem, swimming pools are supposed to be full of water right? Yeah, but what about all the mud and floating debris? Seems it costs thousands to clean the olympic size swimming pool out every time Center Hill Lake floods.
UCHRA is just as full of graft and corruption as UCDD. But what do you expect? Wendy Askins the UCDD executive director was a former UCHRA employee and was trained by Phyllis Bennett the executive director or UCHRA.
Besides losing $250,000 on Lakeside, UCHRA started a bus service for Cookeville - CATS which lost $178,000 last year;
CATS program shows deficit

COOKEVILLE -- It's been more than a year now since the CATS (Cookeville Area Transit System) buses went on the road here, and the program is running a large deficit, a recent audit shows. CATS is a program made possible by one-time federal stimulus funds totaling just under $178,000, and since those funds have run out, the city's first public transit system is losing money, according to a recent audit of the Upper Cumberland Human Resources Agency, which implemented...
So Cookeville is stuck with the bill for this and each year they decide to fund this loser.
Just in case you are wondering the same great folks that sit on the board of UCHRA also sit on the board of UCDD - that's right. The county mayors, city mayors and a couple of state legislators.
UCHRA finally got rid of Phyllis Bennett but decided to hire her back.
UCHRA re-hires Bennett as consultant

COOKEVILLE -- An agreement that has been in the works the past few weeks with former UCHRA executive director Phyllis Bennett has been approved by both parties in a special-called policy committee and executive committee meeting held Tuesday afternoon. "It is my understanding that Phyllis does agree to this proposal," Mike Gannon, Cannon County executive and policy council member, said. "We have to make sure she is considered an employee until she can get...
Got some new names here - but guess what folks - Mike Foster and Taft Hendrixson have been consistent yes vote for both UCHRA and UCDD.
To Mike and Taft;
If anything is wrong or untrue, please feel free to make corrections. The public deserves to know the truth before the next election.
If this is true and you happen to be feeling some heat because you in fact voted for these monstrosities, we will know when you start blaming the usual suspects – which suits us fine – you still haven’t figured out that a lot of people are angry.

Unless they've built another pool recently, the one Lakeside Resort built a few years ago is well above the flood pool at CHL. Nevertheless, you are correct about the corruption. Bennett's son, Milburn Rogers, a retired trooper on 'disability', runs the racket there.

Did you know Mike Foster also owns land called "Butternut Valley" He makes his monies from this land by charging the school districts to have field trips there. This is his personal property but we still pay for it..

More about Taft. I seen a picture of him, that's floating around of him sleeping on his couch in his office where he is getting paid from us! Instead of bringing in more tax dollars he is spending them on himself. IF the alderman elect to change the voting dates, he gets to benefit even longer. Call your alderman and let them know you don't want to support a mayor sleeping on a job. Shawn Jacobs, whom is always worried he will make someone mad. Gayla Hendrix, who finally brought a voice to the table. Danny Washer, who is also a puppet but does stand up for the citizens. Steve White, the one that has warned up many times and gets no help from anyone on the board. Cecil Burger, the man who doesn't have a clue. Call one of these guys and tell them you don't thind Taft deserves a raises.

Just curious, whether not not it's above the flood pool or not, does it still flood and cost lots of money to clean debris? I don't know the answer, just trying to find out

I don't have a lot of confidence in our board. The very notion they would spend all that money on that shopping center with empty promises that it's for the community and NOT BUILD A MUCH NEEDED SCHOOL FOR OUR CHILDREN IS JUST SHAMEFUL!!!!
I for one don't care about all the senseless politics involved! I don't care who hates who!
The innocents are being punished by this political pissing contest between county leaders and the school board. Our kids are the ones suffering!!!!!!
This is right on topic because a lot of the same offenders are in this UCDD mess up to their necks!
BUT UNTIL THE PEOPLE ARE ENLIGHTENED AND ACTUALLY PUT THOSE CROOKS OUT OF OFFICE, NOTHING WILL CHANGE!!!!!!

Its a one sided fight. Mike Foster, Marshall Ferrell, Buttermilk Cantrell, John Green, Larry Summers and Jack Barton control the purse strings in DeKalb County.
There won't be another school built in this county until these people are voted out of office.
They don't want anything they cannot control,or make money off of.
One or two of these individuals are so bitter against the school system, it's personal and they want to punish the school system because they can't get what they want.
Now that the UCDD scandal has broke, we can all see how greedy and self serving public officials can be. DeKalb County is no different.
Time to clean house - vote them all out. Things will not change until you do.

This goes back a long time ago:
How MZ Bennett got rid of one to hire Wendy Askins and the fall out for it.
I don't know what has ever happened with the lawsuit.

Is it true Mike Foster pressured former Sheriff Lloyd Emmons into breaking a law he did not want to break which would mean allowing Mike Foster to use the jail inmates for work detail on Mike Foster's own personal properties, but Lloyd refused? If this is a fact, I would sure like to applaud Lloyd.
