Yes. They are in the schools budget. You can go to the school board and ask for a pay scale which gives pay NY years and degrees. Or you can ask for census which give pay by name.

First of all, we were talking about the DeKalb County Commission and how much the DeKalb County Commission has allotted to the DeKalb County School system.
So you need to get your facts straight – Yabbadabbadoo, or PBF Buddy, or anyone else.
Next, you keep mixing it up and comparing apples with oranges, and bringing up new things.
What I said was this:
“You miss the point. The county commission has funded the school system at bottom dollar. The school board has few, if any discretionary dollars to spend for ball fields, band uniforms, and football, basketball, soccer or baseball programs. That is why all these groups have to hold fundraisers – like the football teams highly successful ham breakfast a few weeks ago.
No doubt the new county courthouse annex is a very nice, first class building, but what do you expect for $5 million?
I give Mike Foster credit, he has the courthouse in first class shape as well – after previous county executives neglected the courthouse and let it fall into a state of disrepair.
Kudos to Mr. Foster, he is a first class builder.
Now it’s time to spend some money on our schools. If we can have a world class landfill, a beautiful courthouse and a state-of-the-art county annex building, how about we spend some money on our children’s education and have school facilities that we can be just as proud of?”
Now you are bringing in salaries paid to administrative personnel – which you claim are higher than those salaries paid in Rutherford County. You have me there because I do not have knowledge of those figures – do you?
Next you claim “(DeKalb County)Teacher salaries are some of the lowest in the mid state.(DeKalb) County commission does not set these salaries, the school board does.”
The State of Tennessee sets the MINIMUM salaries of school teachers. This is covered in section 49, Tennessee Code Annotated. The Statue states a minimum salary for school teachers and provides that the State of Tennessee will furnish each county in Tennessee a certain amount of dollars that must be used to pay teachers.
If any county decides to pay teachers more THAN the required amount, that is also permitted – BUT the county is responsible for the extra payment. Meaning that the DeKalb County Commission MUST appropriate the extra money to pay school teachers ABOVE the State of Tennessee required minimum.
So, if DeKalb County pays lower salaries, it is the DeKalb County Commission’s fault – AND the teachers, or their designated representatives – DeKalb Education Association - should petition the DeKalb County Commission for better salaries.
What doesn’t make sense is the TEACHER representation on the DeKalb County Commission:
Jack Barton – wife; Bradley Hendrix; Wayne Cantrell – retired teacher, wife, daughter; Marshall Ferrell; Larry Summers – wife (retired).
Why are these commissioners not screaming, yelling and demanding that DeKalb County not have better schools? Better teacher pay? Better teachers????
Maybe the 5 comissioners you mentioned know what the board and Supt. are doing with the schools money and won't agree with their spending.I am sure they have a much better insight than the average citizen does. The daughter of Cantrell DOES NOT work for the school system, she was passed over for a job that went to another out of town friend of Willoughy's.From what I recall the Cantrell girl was the Valadictorian of her class, sad she can't get hired in her own county because of who her parents are.

Marshal Ferrell told Jeff Barnes that Boyd Trapp was against the new high school being built in Belk.

Barnes changed his vote - so when do we get the new Belk High School?

I saw my county commissioner at Wal*Mart and asked him some questions but my commissioner just looked confused and didn't know the answer and then he bolted out the door.

This is on my mind and I want to know:

1. How much money has been spent on the new county annex - including the purchase price?

2. How much money has been spent on the landfill? Why has the new cell at the landfill run out of space so fast? How much would it cost to build a new cell - versus building a transfer station and sending our garbage out of county?

3. Why is Mike Foster spending so much time in Cookeville?

4. If Mike Foster didn't know how much money was being spent on Living the Dream, does the DeKalb County Commission know how much money has been spent on Fosterwood AKA the county annex?

5. Why do you (county commissioners) never ask Mike Foster any questions?

6. Why do you (county commissioners) always vote for what Mike Foster wants without asking Mike Foster any questions?

7. Do you (county commissioners) have a clue what is going on and how you are spending our tax dollars?

8. If Bradley Hendrix has a Master's Degree, why doesn't Bradley Hendrix know what subject he got his Master's Degree in?

9. Does Mike Foster need time off to prepare his defense in case he is indicted in the UCDD scandal?

So, if I show up on April 23; will my questions get answered?

Fred, cost just shy of $3.5M to date, furnishings and all. Mike is spending about 2 days a week in Cookeville to help sort through the LTD mess. If you come to the meeting on April 23, you will know what kinds of questions are asked of Mike, and that the Commissioners hold him accountable.

As our county continues to "live it's dream" I personally know zero about who set pay scales or who would be responible for such. I really don't care as long as someone is held responsible. But I do know that our teachers work long days for little pay.(Not 745 to 245 like many believe.) Teachers arrive early to school, leave late, work at home on nights and weekends. Then they spend what little they make to buy supplies that the county should be providing. Parents should NOT be required to buy and send supplies and teachers should NOT buy then either. Our children should not have to do fund raisers for uniforms, ball fields, or office equipment and supplies. I believe our school board reps are doing a great job, and yes i know who they are, but they need to demand more financial help for our children. Granted some of our teachers are not so great, but MOST do not fit into that category. Is there anywhere in public records that has an itemization of the way our tax money is being spent?

Any County Commissioner should be able to getyou a copy of the last budget to see where money is spent. For teacher salaries etc, that would have to come from a school board member.

wonder why everyone with a title in DeKalb County got office space at the new annex or in the courthouse after the move except the election commission office?

Could it be that they (election commission) foolishly cost the county a LOT of needless legal expenses forcing Dennis Stanley into office? To the victor does belong the spoils but sometimes paybacks are hell.

Katherine Pack didn't get an office at the new county building, nor did Mike Foster. But you're right how it looks. I mean, why reward the Repbulican party that caused the lawsuit that is costing the counties thousands.

Sounds like a case of discrimination to me. Kathryn Pack didn't move because she has to be at that location (the courts) and Mike Foster had a choice. Everyone else, THP, Chamber of commerce, Senior citizens, UCHRA, all Mike's buddies got to move or get a place at the courthouse Yes, I think this is worth looking into. Discrimination and you said it!!!
