Get elected to the county commissioners job in your district!
According to the last budget figures:
DeKalb County Commission:
Budgeted Amounts:$87,200.00
Actual:$85,901.00
The commission received a pay raise and now makes $150.00 (previously $75.00) per monthly commission meeting and $75.00 (previously $50.00) for each committee meeting.
14 Commissioners X 12 meetings X $150.00 =$25,200.00
OR -$1,800.00 per commissioner per YEAR.
$85,901.00 $25,200.00 =$60,701.00
Where is the extra $60,701.00 ($4,335.78 per commissioner) going?
Some of them commissioners is making 7-8 thousand a year... not bad for a few hours a month.
Public record - maybe somebody should do one of them freedom from information act requests and see who is getting paid what???
This is without a doubt, the biggest lie ever posted on this site.
Get a life and stop bashing people and posting things you know nothing about.

How about we vote Foster out first. Foster is raping the county. Foster is drawing a state retirement and has his insurance paid for.

Foster is the highest paid elected official in county government.

All the other elected officials have to pay for their own insurance.

Which local contractor gets all the county jobs for building, remodeling and painting?

Mr Willoughby has the highest taxes of all the departments put together plus 2/3 of the sales tax. Almost 1/5 of his budget stays in the central office. No I do not attack the teachers; they know what is happening. Do you?
Last year the school actually over budgeted by $1.3 million. They got to keep that. Schools, as set by state laws, get to keep anything they do not spend. All other departments return excess to the county, which is used to maintain or reduce debts as mentioned before
I do not hide who I am. I am me and will always be me.
Thanks again, le for showing you care for me.
You must be the county mayor - who else would know?

Anyone with the sense to go to county meetings or go ask for a copy of the county budget.
And by the.... The director of schools makes 2/3 again what the next highest county official makes.

Not only that, the school directors salary including that health care amount is higher than the recently departed director in Putnam county. Their school system is four times bigger than dekalb's and don't have any schools on the state watch list like we do. She has a doctorate and has been recruited to work in the state department of education because of her successes in Putnam county!

What's your point? Some of these commissioners have been, are, and will be good teachers. Most if not all are good role models for the students. Maybe you should talk to them and get to know them. Go to court and school board meetings. Make intelligent decisions based on facts, not personalities. Try it. You may like it.

TN Teachers Get Good Grades in Quality Rating

Tennessee teachers earned one of the highest overall grades in the nation on the National Council on Teacher Quality's 2011 State Teacher Policy Yearbook, reports the Memphis Business Journal.

Tennessee earned a B- and was one of only four states to receive a B grade. Tennessee overall grade rose from a C- in 2009, according to the biannual report.

The Yearbook is compiled by the National Council on Teacher Quality and has tracked teacher policies for the last five years. The report measures progress against a set of 36 policy goals focused on helping states put in place a comprehensive framework in support of preparing, retaining and rewarding effective teachers.

Tennessee improved on three of the five basic areas: from a C to a C+ in expanding the teaching pool; from a C to a B in identifying effective teachers; and from an F to a C in exiting ineffective teachers. The other three states with overall B grades were Florida, Rhode Island and Oklahoma.

I have nothing against Mr. Willoughby personally, but why do we have to go out of the county to fill this position? Are the DeKalb County Schools not adequate to educate someone to hold the position of Director of Schools? If not, we need to overhaul our schools. If we are unable to find someone who is qualified that was educated in DeKalb Couunty, we need to start over from the ground up.

Mr Willoughby went to DCHS (Class if 75).

To"You get what you deserve":
Sitting on the boards:
School Board :
Government Agent, nurseryman/farmer, letter carrier, painter, retirees, disabled.
Commission :
Businessmen, farmers/nurserymen, military personell, VA disabled, teachers (past and present ), preacher and church elders, and retirees.

How many do you know? How many have you spoken to/with? You stand on the side lines and coach from your easy chair. You probably do not bother to vote, but you complain about who is elected.

School members Havering consider the schools first. Commissioners consider all parts of the county and all departments of the county. This includes the taxes and taxpayers. Yes I thought about what I said

So, can we expect you to be filling out a petition and running next time your district is electing a school board canidate, Mr. Skinner?? You seem to have all the answers. Why not put them to good use rather than rambling on a gossip column on the internet?

To Jess Willard:
I've already done most things listed. I have served GOD, country, county, and proplekind for over 6 decades. I started with my parents and grandparents delivering food to people that needed food. We farmed and did not have a lot, but people did things for people in the '40s and '50s
After time in the military, I traveled around the country and world delivering medicines and food to less fortunate. I have built houses for habitat until a few years ago. I have continued to donate time and money. I do not have a lot but I give what I can.
This continued until I could physically not do it anymore. It is time for someone young like you step up and lead.
I still get out. I do not sit at home. In fact you probably see me daily. I'm the person who waves at you as you drive by everyday. In fact while home in the '70s I carried you home to Dowelltown one night. My mistake was stopping on Snows Hill to relieve myself. You beat me back to the Dairy Queen. I did not take you home a 2nd time that night. Sorry about that.

Everyone has a right to voice their opinion on this site. They have the right to not use their own name (please don't use someone elses name). But if we take it to the point of sinning (and we all know what that is) we will have to answer to God for that. Ephesians 4:26 say Be ye angry but sin not.
