Look around. Have you ever seen so many for sale signs. You get can dizzy going down 25A in Kings Park. Turn this way, open house, go left, go right. Every where you turn another home is for sale.
How sad this is. Why is the middle class letting LIPA, high school taxes, oil bills, and so on and so on push us out of our beautiful community. We simply cannot do it anymore. Families are struggling like never before. Yes, are parents struggled, but it was different. Every time they opened up their monthly bills it was not a surprise.
It is a given now, that each month your utility bills will go up.
We are so tired and confused we have lost the will to fight back. The double talk we get from the big utility companies is amazing. How many pages is your telephone bill now. Do you really have the time to scrutinize it. No, like me your probably up a 5:30 to start your day. Get the children ready for school, cook, clean, food shop, pay the bills, try to do yardwork, keep the house maintained, figure out how you are going to pay for your childrens education, health care costs, taxes that are so out of control it is no longer a joke and so on and so on.
Well, Long Island you are winning. Little by little we are are leaving. When there is noone left who will be here to pay the taxes, LIPA, oil bills, and keep it from becoming a ghost town.
I, who never in my wildest dreams thought I would leave here has decided I have had enough. I want quality in my life, time to be with my children and husband. Time to sit in my backyard with my family and friends. This is not a lot to ask.
Noone is happy anymore. We are all in a fog and wondering when the nightmare will end. Please politicians start to hear our cries. We love it here and want to stay. We simply cannot do it anymore.
I thank you for listening to me.
