Gold should only be a second color. The main color should be green and not gold. The colors should be green and gold or white. If you don't play good at least look good. Bring back green jerseys and gold pants for football. Other schools have blue and gold or red and gold. You don't see solid gold. Again, if you have to watch bad football at least look at uniforms that are not awful.

True colors ARE GOLD and WHITE. If YOU want to change the school's colors then approach the BOARD, change the WORDS in the alma mater; and SPEND money on new jerseys just so YOU can watch FASHIONABLE football. By the way, did you ever think that those colors you mentioned ARE those schools colors? Think about it better yet research it.

Someone judged your comment by disagreeing. What's there to disagree with? That the true colors are gold and white? They are. I would imagine that you would have to approach the school board. You definitely would have to change the words in the school song, and you would have to purchase jerseys. I agree with your reasoning. Many schools do have gold in their uniforms because it is part of their school colors. TJ is black and gold; Ringgold is blue and gold. Greensburg is brown and gold, and there are many more. That individual wants a change but they don't want to listen to reasoning if there is a change. Support the program win or lose cause those kids are giving of their time and energy. It's their effort that counts not the uniform but they are representing BVA and they should do so by wearing BVA colors which are gold and white. What's wrong with gold pants and white jerseys? TBy the way that board already knows who will be the next coach. He will oprob ably follow suit and come from BW like the other sports coaches.

for Gold and White. Our memories not in vain. Memories that is all you BVA fans have. Good players made the team up then now all the kids want to do is text on their phones. If we had a text championship we would win. Back to the old coaches I remember when the big coverup at football camp when the so call coach had no knowledge of what was going on . Freshman circles and family tree acts. Just forget the pass and go forward living day to day. You can not bring the pass forward be thankful that our students still can play sports.

I have seen the alma mater on the wall in the gym and the date at the end is 1982. If this is the same alma mater that "Changes" is referring to than the colors were GREEN jerseys and GOLD pants. This is when BVA was winning. Bring back the tradition of winning.. Solid GOLD only looked good on the SOLID GOLD dancers on the show by the same name in the 1980's.

If you read the words to the alma mater, you would have read "colors gold and white". That's what I read. School colors are one thing and the colors the AD and coaching staff chose for the players are another. Believe players should wear their school colors not the colors that are more appeasing or fashionable. That's just my opinion---to each his own.

If your logic of school colors is correct why are the basketball uniforms solid GREEN. My opinion is solid gold looks hideous I don't care what the alma mater reads. Change it to green and gold. I'll supply the paint.

That logic of the school colors is correct. As far as the basketball uniforms; ask the coach or better yet ask the AD. If you don't care what the alma mater words are, evidently you didn't graduate from BVA for most graduates hold those words dear to their hearts. You also could attend games at other districts whose uniform colors are more appealing to you.

Always thought you had to do 2 things---pay taxes and die. Never heard of HAVING to watch bad football. You're just a paying guest. Those boys don't need fans who gripe. Stay home or go elsewhere where the uniforms are more attractive. I suggest you read The Competitor's Creed by Theodore Roosevelt.

Think you need to go back to the original color comment. Sounded to me it was a disgruntled guy who needed to complain so he took it out on the color of the uniforms. He could even be an old Rostraver grad who believes their color green should be dominant in the uniforms. Who knows? Better yet who cares? The important thing is to get our students more interested and involved in the program and our coaches to bring it back to a winning program. Hopefully it could happen but don't believe Dongilli will be at helm sad to say.

It should be an interesting meeting, if it is a fact and not a rumor that the hiring of a football coach is on the agenda. Hmmm wonder who the superintendent will recommend. I know who the majority of the people in the area would recommend. Probably not the same recommendation. Hope the public is well in attendance. Go, GARY!!!

You sounded a little skeptical about the superintendent and from what the rumor mill has it, he's not going for Dongilli. Now what would he know about our program, right? Maybe he's going on the lip service of the AD who has granted many favors thru his former office. And maybe it was just an insincere act on the president's behalf approaching Dongilli since many favors were granted to the president thru the former magistrate. Have seen it happen thru the years. The board votes one way in the closed meeting and another way at the public meeting. I'm still hoping Dongilli can garner enough votes to return to BVA. Hope the weather doesn't keep the residents away from Monday's meeting - dress warm and be there.

Speaking of the president. Did anyone happen to catch his "show" at Rostraver Gardens last week?

My brother in law was there and said that the "president" was part of the audience who decided to attempt being a comedian which failed but his actions did prove to be a real a-- which some of us already knew. Is there not a set of ethics for an elected official especially one on a board of education?

The "president" has not been to the regular monthly school board meetings for two months.
Can anyone inform

Is it three missed meetings and your out? He'll be there next meeting maybe he was a little embarrassed for his actions at the Gardens maybe not. Got home from work late Monday and didn't pick up a local paper today. What happened if anything at the meeting? All that hoopla in the district with the hiring of a coach. Did they act on it or was it another political ploy?
Gift Giving

Uniontown, PA

#1645 Jan 29, 2014
The front page photo in the Valley Independent shows a table filled with colorful gift bags topped with tissue paper on BVA school board appreciation night. Never experienced a situation where gift bags were being distributed to school board members on appreciation night.
Despite rumors, the superintendent had announced that no new football coach was to be named yet. An athletic committee including the superintendent will interview candidates in a week or two.
An audit report given to the school board was positive for the time being. Covering increased pension contributions will be a future challenge.
Just a reminder about the above index tax increase approved by the BVA school board several years ago. It costs some taxpayers an extra $100 per year since that time. Even $100 is painful for some taxpayers especially those on fixed income. Discretionary income has now become a thing of the past. More and more families are living from paycheck to paycheck. It is expected that there will be additional financial pain yet to endure.
