Liefer voted for levee tax without knowing cost, now 4 times the amount they thought, and isn't it convenient that the new tax doesn't apply to the new combine Haudrick bought. Easy for farmers to pass a tax that they don't pay.

I hope Pitman wins also Monroe county needs to spice it up a little its time for Monroe County to actually have more representation then three Commissioners maybe Monroe County needs to be broke up into regions and a person elected from each region such as Valmeyer and the bottoms as a region, Waterloo as a Region, Columbia as a Region, Wartburg, Maeystown, Renault, Burksville, Etc as a Region, And Hecker as a Region (Maybe Kohler could pull it off again, oh he wants to run for Sheriff what a JOKE what are the Republicans thinking? OR maybe Haudrich could pull if off again another joke by a combine turn in your receipts at the fair and win the prize Isn't farming considered a Business real nice how much taxs are paid on agriculture maybe he could call his campaign THINK DALE HAUDRICH FIRST!!!!!!!!!!
Good LUCK MR. Pittman you have my vote good by Terry

I wouldn't vote for Pitman. He was on the finance committee for our wonderful new school. He sure knows how to waste taxpayers money. What a joke!

I hear if Liefer wins the primary, the democrats won't run anyone, but if Pittman wins there will be a democrat candidate.

Pittman was on School board...correct. But, at least we had a vote on the tax increase, NOT something we got from Liefer or Haudrick on the levee tax increase. Thanks Terry, but I'm voting Pittman.

$25,000 per acre is a squeaker in your book?!?!? I'd hate to see what a "big spender" looks like. Or, maybe you just hang in a higher social circle...

It's interesting how uninformed you are. You really need to pay more attention and not just try and listen to the talking points of your union leaders.

Please give some examples of anyone trying to get rid of "health care"? Spending $1.5 TRILLION on government run beauracracy is different than "getting rid of" health care.

I missed the legislation outlawing unions. I see the argument against getting rid of secret ballots, which NO non-union worker wants whether he is Republican or Democrat. BTW, that is the 88% of the American workers who realize that unions do nothing for common workers, except take money from them.

No taxes for the rich? Really? You DO realize that the top 10% wage earners pay 98% of the taxes in this country? Which group again isn't paying their fair share? I think you should look around the bar at your friends and answer that question.

I also realize I am wasting my time trying to talk to you, you are too brain washed by your masters. But I had a few minutes to kill.

What percent of taxes paid by so-called the wealthy pay against the percentage of middle class, poor pay. Bet you don't know, the top 5 % pay 85 % of the total taxes paid.Who are the biggest contributors to the democratic party ? Bet you don't know this either. 1. Trial lawyers followed by unions. Yea trial lawyers are really poor.Quit playing the VICTIM card. Compassion is good but giveaways to cronies and union chiefs is Bullshit !!!!

Since you want to turn this post into a union-busting forum, let me add my thoughts and stay on the original topic.

Dale Haudrich was on the County Board when the workers at the Monroe County Nursing Home were trying to gain representation by the USWA.

The all-Republican board and their attorney spent thousands of taxpayer dollars fighting the rights of these workers to be represented. The law said they only needed 50% plus 1 (a majority) of cards signed to win. Our brilliant board refused to recognize this and insisted on a secret ballot election, which resulted in a win for the workers. During the process, management, with the Board's approval, illegally fired pro-union workers.

Don't say that unions do nothing for workers. The nursing home employees were forced into unwanted overtime, interrupted vacations and had no voice in work rules. That all changed when they entered into a contract which must be honored by workers and management.

The nursing home workers' fight wasn't the first waste of taxpayer money over workers rights to be represented. I remember when the county had to pay a couple of workers in the Assessor's Office who were also illegally fired for simply trying to exercise their right to be represented.

Monroe County Republicans love blaming unions for their problems. Why don't you start placing the blame where it belongs? There are several thousand union voters in Monroe County. We pay taxes and we vote! And, we know who wants to get along and who wants to bully workers. We know who wants to disregard th law. It isn't the Democrats!

Daily Horoscope for January 2

Scorpio

Something about your personality or appearance is drawing a lot of attention today, Scorpio. People insist on watching when you'd rather that they minded their own business. Your stubborn streak at a time when flexibility would be easier. Be kind to those with long memories, especially if you think you might run into them again at some point in your life. If you can't think of anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
