I read about you Doctor in the Times Dispatch Sunday. I am Terribly saddened by the news of your liver cancer.
WITHOUT EVEN KNOWING YOU I KNOW THAT YOU ARE A MAN WHO HAS LIVED HIS LIFE IN SUCH A WAY THAT THEY WILL NOT HAVE TO LIE ABOUT YOU AT YOUR FUNERAL...

I know your faith will carry you and your family and i know that this time is a living out of your faith. Thanks for being a shining example of some Light in this world of darkness.

If I do not meet you on this side I'm certain I'll meet at our "other home". I can hear Him saying to you "WELL DONE THY GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT".
May God Bless you and know that you are being prayed for and your family as well.
GODSPEED

God is sooooo Proud of you and your ripple will be felt for generations to come

Dr. Nichols, I recently lost my beloved husband of thirty one years to cancer. It was very unexpected but God used his death to bring me and my children closer to Him. I have come to understand that our bodies are just a temporary tent for the life we will live in heaven. This life is not our permanent life. We are hear to serve God's purpose and surely you have done so. What a humble, generous, unselfish, loving person you are. You must be sure that God has a place for you in paradise. I wish you the best and pray that your battle with cancer will not be painful. God bless you.

Dr. Nichols has been our physician since he first came to the White Stone area. He is so very thorough when checking his patients (speaking from my family's experience) and he diagnosed several medical problems that no one else would have noticed until almost too late. He is a wonderful, wonderful physician. We were devastated to learn of his retirement from White Stone Family Practice, but now even more devstated to have learned several weeks ago about his own medical condition. We love Dr. Nichols!!!

We have been patients of Dr. Nichols since he first arrived in White Stone. He has been a true blessing from God. Not only the best of the best when it comes to being our family physician, but a kind, caring, giving human being that means the world to our family. Dr. Nichols you have been our source of strength so many times. Dr. Nichols was loved by our son, Christopher as well. We pray for you daily and we love you!

This is such a refreshing story even if the outcome will not be pleasant. I wish more doctors would treat patients with the care and dedication of Dr Nichols. I do not know him personally, but I wish I had. Tangier Island's loss will be Heaven's gain. Just know that he will be loved.

I was born and raised on Tangier and we are all heart broken over the news of Dr Nichols. He has been a blessing for the residents of Tangier for years. He has made countless visits and house calls to all that needed him. I experience first hand what an amazing person he was in March of this year when my grandmother, Helen was dying with cancer on the island. He mad many visits to her house to check in with her and to visit and help the family with questions and updates. He made us feel like she was truly his only patient each time. We are all thinking of him and his family as they go through this difficult time. May they find comfort in the legacy he will leave behind. See you at the dedication!

I am formerly of Tangier. I have seen firsthand the care and attention he gives his patients as I saw it through my Mom who was a patient of his until the Lord called her home. She used to pinch his cheek and tell him that he was worth a thousand dead men!!! She loved his blue eyes and the way he would listen to her and help her feel better. He never rushed her, but always had time. Dr. Nichols two things: 1)May you know in your heart that God loves you and is there for you in your deepest moment...He is only a prayer away; 2)There is a song with the words, "may all who come behind us find us faithful." You have been faithful to your call to Tangier, Dr. Nichols and I will forever be indebted to you and give the Lord praise for you. Lovingly, Ella
