Signs stolen from Ringwood Council candidates

Three Democratic challengers for Borough Council seats on Nov. 3 are primarily running their campaign from their web site now that 100 of their candidate signs were stolen this week off local roads.

The stealing of a candidates signs in Ringwood are an outrage and a challenge to all our rights as citizens and candidates. This is an assault on democracy itself.

I strongly urge the town council to authorize our police dept. to investigate and prosecute this outrageous assault on our citizens civil rights. This is not some ordinary crime of theft. It is rather an assault on all citizens who cherish freedom of expression and the rights of candidates to compaign with equal freedom under the law.

These signs were stolen on heavily patrolled routes in Ringwood and I would look at the police as suspects in this mess.
