A man wielding a handgun stole two $500 Ace of Spades champagne bottles and between $3,000 and $4,000 from Brother's Food Mart Gas Station in the 7000 block of Bullard Avenue on Mardi Gras 2013, police said.
The robber made off with the money and alcohol after marching into the store about 5:05 a.m. on Fat Tuesday, leaping onto the counter, pressing his gun against two clerks' faces and demanding money from their registers, police added.
No other details were released Tuesday morning. In an unrelated incident, at the same convenience store on Jan. 27, a man in handcuffs managed to grab an NOPD sergeant's holstered gun and shot the cop in the leg, police said. Sgt. Sidney Jackson was helping colleagues investigate a disturbance when he was wounded.
