What right has the Government to interfere?

While I personally think the child should get the treatment, it is NOT up to the government to dictate to FREE people what they must do.

Once caught, she should be thrown in jail for child abuse. I hear that this home-schooled kid can't even read.

Disgusting.

Out in the midwest, where there aren't that many Roman Catholics (hard to believe coming from Long Island), some provincials there believe Roman Catholics are evil or "of the devil". Some parts of the U.S. have very few of these people groups which means as a minority experience local prejudice.

Who is raising this child, the state or the parents?

It is time for the government to get out of peoples lives.

These people are being persecuted and prosecuted, simply because their beliefs don't jive with the dogma of the government and medical industries.

It is their family, child and life. Leave them alone and let them live or die with the consequences of their belief set.

You should be sterilized so that you cannot further infect the human population with your ignorance and hate.

Generally, I agree with you. However, there are situations where the government needs to step in. If the mental competence of the parents can be called into question, then the welfare of the child needs to be addressed. I don't know if that's the case here, but I have my opinion that intervention is necessary here.

This family is in a situation that alot of people find themselves in.By no means I'm I defending the mother by running away that is not the answer. But I for one would like to know who is paying for all this chemo and radiation treatments which is very expense and alot of insurance company don't pay for that. If the state is so concerned about this boy then let them pay for it. hand the bill to the judge. I have known too many families going into debt just for these treatments and alot of the time they don't work.

I agree! But this is America and the goverment must interfere because the bottom line is there is hundreds of millions of dollars at stake here.In trying to find a cure for cancer. Now honestly why must it be demanded that this boy be brought back here and forced to use chemo? Why don't they take some of these millions of dollars and invest in these other treatments if they are trying to find a cure?Because this is America all we care about is the money! And if this other treatment works there wont be any need for hundreds of millions of dollers in donations anymore and many people will lose their cushy jobs.In America only a drug or surgery can cure things this is the American law made to protect profits. This is why in my opinion I will never donate any money to anything that involves cancer as there is people out there who claim cures were found decades ago!!But in America you will never hear about it because of all the money at stake.

It is easy to blame the parents if they withhold chemo and the child dies. The parents are arrested for child abuse.

Let's change the scenario. The parents allow the doctors to do as they see fit with their cut, burn and poison, and the child dies.

Who is held responsible? Will they blame the doctors and arrest them for child abuse?

No way. They make the excuse "We did everything we could do to save your child".

Thirty two years ago I had cancer. After surgery, I refused further treatment. I am alive.

Eleven years ago, my husband chose burn and poison and he was dead in nine months.

In the past year/plus, my daughter developed cancer and chose the cut, burn, and poison. She nearly died and the cure was actually worse than the cancer. Today the tests show she is cancer free but damaged from her treatments yet she is happy to be alive.

It's his body and he should be allowed to do as he pleases with it.
All the feminists groups that use the "my body" argument for abortion should be standing up for Daniel - especially those that argue for it for underage girls. He is the one that didn't want to go through with it. Government should not interfere. Plus government is coming in between their religious beliefs.
