Why does the DNR seem to dispute every cougar sighting in the state?
There was a picture from a trail camera in Floodwood MN last year. A car killed one last week... They are here get used to it. |

They follow the river. I've never seen one but have seen the tracks. Trail cams have taken pics of quite a few. The DNR is lame.

Maybe it's a matter of denial.
When wild animals begin to move into populated areas that's a sign that nature is out of balance in their usual area. Frightening, really. An indication that we are in serious ecological trouble. I remember when bears and moose have showed up. wolves too. They were skeptical about that as well. Suppose it's wise from a scientific viewpoint to remain so until absolute proof is there. At this point it's a matter of degree. One discombobulated creature, perhaps? |

I had a face to face encounter with a female cougar about 27 years ago. She banded me and has kept me in her lair ever since.
