DNR official skeptical about cougar report near St. Clair

Melissa Enter and Nathan Bartell are sure the cat they saw near St. Clair Tuesday was a cougar, even if the photo Enter took is unclear.

Why does the DNR seem to dispute every cougar sighting in the state?

There was a picture from a trail camera in Floodwood MN last year.

A car killed one last week... They are here get used to it.

They follow the river. I've never seen one but have seen the tracks. Trail cams have taken pics of quite a few. The DNR is lame.

Maybe it's a matter of denial.

When wild animals begin to move into populated areas that's a sign that nature is out of balance in their usual area. Frightening, really.

An indication that we are in serious ecological trouble.

I remember when bears and moose have showed up. wolves too. They were skeptical about that as well. Suppose it's wise from a scientific viewpoint to remain so until absolute proof is there.

At this point it's a matter of degree. One discombobulated creature, perhaps?

I had a face to face encounter with a female cougar about 27 years ago. She banded me and has kept me in her lair ever since.
