167 between amsterdam and audubon in the house!! I was too young to remember what really went down in that era but i do remember when they did the drive by on El feo while he was on the pay phone. I remember hearing the shots and then watching the car speeding through the block.

G Dubz (George Washington H.S., for those that don't know) was a straight up zoo! Whoever actually graduated from there in those days I tip my hat off to you cause I don't know how you did it, lol. I remember when Plio, Raymond Tejara's (R.I.P.) partner, first went to The Dubz with all his chains on and got robbed at gun point on the 5th floor. Everyday there was a fight or two after school, EVERYDAY! If you recall there was always static between the Hicks (with their Gherri Curls, Pippo suits & Zodiac shoes, lol) and those who were raised here (Dominican Yorks, for lack of a better term) and everyday someone was getting jumped. I remember one day everyone was waiting outside to see what would pop off that day and everyone looks towards the corner and there's a bunch of morenos(AAs) on the corner and everyone is like "who the fck are these dudes?" It was the notorious Decepticons. They were a predominately black gang, known for showing up at high schools and beating up people and hitting them with hammers. They were legendary for that, they would show up at Norman Thomas, Park West, Fashion, Kennedy, etc,, etc, but they didn't know about the Dubz, lol. Mannnnn, those Decepticons got there ass beat from 190 St. till Harlem. I think that was the first and only time I seen the Hicks & Dominican Yorks get together and fight someone else. I almost felt sorry for those Decepts, they really, REALLY got their ass kicked. After that there was rumors that they were going to come back deeper but they didn't want anymore and never showed up to the Dubz again.
Ya know Plio? Does anyone else Plio? He's from 171. He did some time in prison in the 90. Im wonderin if its related to the wildcowboys or not.

el feo i met later in life after he lost use of his legs. we talked a lot and i learned a lot from him. what i learned is even though i was hustling in those streets. i wasnt nothing compared to el feo and the wild cowboys. i always say to myself. the most high protected me from crossing their paths in when i was in the streets. cuz they were in it to win it. no prisoners. and believe me. i grew up in hunts point and that was a mad house in itself. but these were those dudes u didnt want to cross.

I've been reading the posts on this board for some time now. Sometimes I exit the Topix site thinking a special awareness of that horrific era is coming to light. An awareness that can initiate a conversation to discuss the political and social issues that were a part of that time -- The perfect prelude and the right environment to release a film which will touch on those things. Other times, however, I exit the site with disgust after reading posts that judge a movie and/or documentary that hasn't even been screened. If someone asked you for an opinion on the 'AVENGERS' movie, and you hadn't seen it, how could you give an informed opinion? Most of the negativity put forth about this project is from individuals who can't fathom a film about this subject to be anything other than what they see on the surface: selling drugs, killing people, and living large. Those same individuals will say that 'TITANIC' was a movie about a ship,'ROCKY' was a boxing movie, and 'WAR HORSE' was simply a film about a horse. I normally make it a habit to only speak for myself. There are inherent political and public dangers in assuming that someone else shares your opinion on a subject. But, I strongly and safely will say that Jessy Terreo and I agreed from the start that this film WAS NOT GOING TO GLORIFY DRUG DEALING. In gathering information from the original members of THE WILD COWBOYS, we came to respect and form a relationship with those members who owned up to their past and were genuinely remorseful. We also realized that the ones who were remorseful also had something in common - they were intelligent. These were the members of the Wild Cowboys that we decided to open a dialouge with. They were the ones we have befriended (without judging); and, it is THEIR perspective that we will use.
