They need to pave I-26 bad.
Weren't they gonna widen I-26 some years back, I think from the SC border to the Biltmore mall exit.

But I could be wrong, I usually am.

Every time the DOT makes a decision, the folks
against widening the lanes get really upset.

The Smoky Park Bridge and I-26 is a biggie.

But the part that will cause the most disaster for
commuters is at Long Shoals Rd. exit where the
bridge is being widened and the lanes. Also, Long
Shoals rd is going to be widened.

We will have to buy some cheese to go with all the "whining."

I'm expecting a local shortage of cheese soon too.

Disaster? Compared to the Smoky Park Bridge and I-26?

No, not even close. Actually the plan for the Long Shoals Road interchange is a very good one. They are building a temporary bridge adjacent to the current I-26 bridge over Long Shoals. When they close one side of the highway to replace the bridge, they'll route the traffic onto the temp bridge. Same thing with the other bridge when it gets replaced. Except for temporary lane closures, all four lanes will be open all the time.

I actually think the pain will be pretty minor compared to some other ongoing and potential projects in the area.
