Earl "The Duke" Filskov a name he gave to himself should mind his own business. "Duke" is the author and owner of Dukes Daily Blotter which is a Blog of recycled news from other news outlets. This just proves that any half wit and moron can start their own blog and this guy is a moron holmes.

I'm sure Earl will answer your ignorant comment on his own, but I will also add mine. As a retired MPPD officer, I speak from first hand knowledge, not out of my a$$ and knew Ron well. MPPD has no proper official training past the academy. Any real police department with trained officers/supervisors would have exactly known what to do on that scene. That scene was a death investigation, and no matter the means of the death should have been investigated thouroughly, which it was not. Here are some FACTS: How did the first responders miss the .45 hole in his chest. Also, why does MPPD still use CCSPD evidence techs and not have their own, none the less a day after the crime? And, if MPPD has access to the Major Crimes Task Force, why didn't they use them? And for gods sake, a canvas was not done?! There were not at least 10 officers knocking on doors to find out if anyone saw or heard anything in relation to a dead man laying in his backyard! But then again to be realistic and truthful, and as a former employee, some things never change. People are getting mad because Earl is telling the truth here, and the truth hurts sometimes. This job was botched from the start, imagine if it was your family member and this incompetent police department did this to you. Truthfully at this point, they will be damn lucky if this offender is ever caught, and it will not be to their credit.

Ronnie is an incompetent jagoff. Most of the voters are too. So it's like a marriage made in heaven. Of course you like your lazy crooked stupid uneducated sissy coward police and we happily supply that with our Melrose Park slackers. So we're doing a good job of giving you voters what you want.

The Melrose Park Police Department is among one of the worst in the state if not the country.
Chief Pitassi while he is a nice person is not an effective chief of Police. It is much worst today then it was under Chief Scavo. Morale is at an all time low. Officer speak badly about Chief Pitassi all day everyday it seems the officers donít respect him as a leader.
Melrose Park Detectives are all clout employees. They donít know the first thing about investigating a crime let alone solving a murder. These police officers sit around all day tying to find a new spot to have breakfast with Deputy Chief Castellan another problem in the Melrose Park Police Department. Castellan is in charge of the detective division and Castellan loves to be sucked up to.
Letís look at Castellanís little group of followers:
Marcia Cucci she has her head so far up Castellan ass you canít tell where she ends and Castellan begins. Marcia is in charge of causing trouble & arguments with everyone in the police station. Also if you fart she will immediately report it to Castellan.
Bob Anzaldi a Stone Park disabled police officer earning 75k a year at MPPD + disability benefits from Stone Park not bad.
Alex Scudiero IT personal without a degree he signs in at 7am bring his children to school in River Forest and then goes to breakfast until 10am. At 12noon he off to lunch and then goes and pickups his children at 230pm and then home he goes. Not bad either. Not a full day of work though.
Michael Licther Animal Control Officer and full time drunk he earns 87k a year he is also cover boy for the Rose News Paper this month. Licther makes sure he comes in every day hangover he stumbles in around 6 to 630am with sunglasses on so nobody can see his bloodshot eyes. Then he gets into his MPPD vehicle and runs down the first pedestrian he sees. He like Marcia Cucci has his head so far up Pitassi & Castellans. Oh yeah the mayor wants to thank you for your $1000 donation each year.
Greg Slavi is much too busy to do police or detective work. He is busy selling knockoff designer merchandise, cars and stolen radios. Not to forget viewing video footage from the River Forest Jewel. Salvi is now injured.
Michael Scudiero next to become a sergeant for his vote on the pension board to award Chief Pitassi his 130k a year pension while he is then rehired at a lower rate of pay. Like the Melrose Police Pension doesnít have enough to worry about.
That bring us to Tony Greco Michael Castellans best friend a former Stone Park Police Officer and MPPD Auxiliary he is the lead detective & president of the Flowers of Italy Club which just honored Michael Castellan as Man of the Year. This is the organization that had on-duty Melrose Park Police officers Lorzeno ,Licther,Treffens and himself Greco selling pages in their ad book at Castellans direction.

Unforuiotly this murder will not be solved very sad. Its time to start over at the MPPD. GO DUKE GO!

You forgot the mobile response team/unit for NATO another Castellan brainstorm. Calling all Castellan pets let dress up like teenage mutant ninja turtles and play in the forest preserves. Maybe we can buy some paint guns too. If this town needs protection and the melrose park mobile response team was the only hope, we would all die. More money spent the wrong way and Pitassi goes along with it. I am sad to say it but this is the worst police department ever. Itís a shame we had to lose one of our own to find it out. Time to overhaul it.

I canít wait until the Italian Feast in a few weeks watching all of our high paid police officers sitting on the corner of 23rd and Augusta in their lawn chairs under their tent enjoying their meals having a ball. Itís just like the last chief did with his group. This is another embarrassment to our police force. It proves everything the Duke said this department hasnít changed in 100 years. And in that 100 year this department has yet to solve a murder but it has a good time at the Italian Feast. Oh and the Taste of Melrose Park too. What a joke

I had to register in order to post so folks will know it is really me.

First, thanks you for the comments, all of them. At least people are talking about what is going on and that is what I want.

So I post "recycled" news, big deal. I post a lot of first hand news as well.

I was first with the Phil Negron lawsuit and the Ron Susek murder.

That being said, I would be doing the same exact thing if these incidents had occurred in any of our area police departments and I was given the information.

I have no need to defend what I do. I do it to fight for the front line public employees and the tax payers.

And for the record, I do not make money or charge for any information posted on DDB and I certainly have no involvement in local politics unless it stems from a subject I am currently covering.

Thanks and please remember, this is about a family man that served his community for thirty years and was murdered at his home, in our backyards.

Why is everything a secret in melrose park?
Why isn't the community notified when crimes are committed?
When crimes occur in other cities or towns they notify their community by the media/internet web site/ email/text or town news papers but not in melrose park we do things the old fashion way. The wrong way!
The Chief (Pitassi)should have been on the news as the spokesman providing information to the community he serves. Just like every other city in this state. The local news would have loved to assist in solving this crime but that doesn't happen here because our police department is not trained on up to date police techniques and how to work with the community.
Melrose Park should be set up with an informational web site emails and text message to its citizens. Maybe this is a job for a real IT technician. Not a friend of Castellan.
This is a disgrace and I hope this brutal crime is solved before the feast, because it would make me sick to see the chief & his cronies sitting on their asses enjoying themselves while a murder is running loose.

How many murders are in unsolved this year? This is at least the second or third. Duke can you please help us get the crime statistics for 2012 and maybe last year too. We need this info but we don't know how to get it and you do. Maybe you can then post it on your blog. Thanks for your help.

I still remember the fiasco where the gigantic crowd from the fraeknic was allowed to basically take over First Ave. The residents were left on there own with a gigantic mob wandering the area. Some girls got raped at a McDonalds. No cpps anywhere to be seen. Some of the marchers were carrying guns and some jumped fences and trespassed on residents property but I guess it was safest to hide and let a mob take over the streets and rape women. But at least the cops are good for harassing residents. Sometimes they get a real attitude when they get called and make threatening comments to the people who called them especially at night, not very professional but the Melrose Park way.

Now here is the truth,no doubt. anyone that thinks different is a fool. And, the real loser her suffering the consequences is a murdered man. Doesn't matter he is an ex MPPD, he is still a murder victim that deserves rhe investigation he will never get. Why is that? Because of the many reasone I hit on as well as this post has. It's a damn shame. Like I said, would you be happy with this "investigation", and I use that term loosely, so far if it were your family member.

This is called proactive policing, which MPPD has no clue how to do let alone the village.
