Great post! I found myself wishing for more. One thing I'd like to point out that somewhat skews your sample: Greyhound really only makes sense for people traveling alone, and at short notice. People traveling with even one other person will generally find car travel about the same in cost, and people traveling in families or other groups will find car travel cheaper, assuming they have access to a car. Also, people traveling with a few weeks advance notice will often find plane travel to be much cheaper than bus travel (cheaper at least for flights over ~400 miles). So your bus population will generally be people who have to travel alone at fairly short notice -- almost by definition people experiencing some alienation and instability in their lives.(Notably, they are often going to a funeral or other family emergency, and someone going to a funeral alone almost certainly lives on his own with no spouse or other family nearby.)
