Palin wardrobe donation to Salvation Army

Full story: Chicago Tribune

Sen. John McCain today reiterated a promise that his running mate's $150,000 wardrobe -- purchased for her by the Republican National Committee -- will end up going to a good cause once the election is over.

While I support the Salvation Army in every way, I think this would be a waste of a tremendous asset. The clothing should be auctioned off. Perhaps on eBay. Then the proceeds could better benefit the charity recipient.

Why is th Tribune (and all other media) devoting so much time to Sarah Palin's wardrobe? This is a sexist attitude. Don't kid yourselves - a short article about where Obama buys his suits cannot silence that little voice in your head that KNOWS that covering a female politicians wardrobe is sexist and is not news. Shame on your editorial staff - don't you have enough other real news to report?

I guess they don't have a lot of confidence that she's going to need those clothes when the election is over!

We finally get to see the ethics of this woman. The McCain campaign is desparately trying to put spin on it and claim her actions are halfway legal. But why would she have to retroactively adjust the expenses accounts for her kids travel if everything was above board to begin with ? This smacks very much like fraud. Do we want someone that wants to spread the wealth - but only to herself and her family - on top of the country and possibly leader of the free world ?? She is never going to get some respect back for the USA that was so sorely lost by Mr. Bush, on the contrary looks like she is going to sink us even deeper.

This woman is someone who says she's "proud to be a redneck."

Since when do "rednecks" spend $150,000 on clothes?

This woman has a serious credibility gap going on here. And don't get me started on the words that spew from her mouth when she opens it. Gag.

This is the biggest load of crap I have ever heard, not to mention the biggest waste of money. I'm sure the SA would have preferred the cash.

Since when do most people spend that much money of clothes? If this is any indication of the McCain economic plan, Obama has nothing to worry about.

I am just beyond disgusted by what the Tribune thinks is Newsworthy!!! If you want to talk about giving to charity... then they can pop those babies on E-bay and raise some real money that can benefit a lot of charities instead talking about the ridiculousness of selling them for pennies at a thrift store. Be SERIOUS! How about being fair... and talking about all that $$$ flowing into Obama's hands for what was that??? MORE ADVERTISING... AND WE WONDER WHY THE MEDIA: TV STATIONS AND NEWSPAPERS ARE ENDORSING OBAMA... HE'S PAYING THEM WELL FOR IT!!! So lets talk about Palin's clothes... REALLY??? I just want to know... REALLY????

Terrific.

You ignorant, lazy, unthinking, unquestioning, partisan-blind, populist, minimal-IQ neo-con morons have turned the election of a national head of state into an episode of "Project Runway."

From the intellect that brought you "Ice Road Truckers" (morons who intentionally drive across partially frozen water) and "Cops 2.0" (more beatings, less words)... it's "Hem and Haw: The Sarah Palin Show"

Who'd have thought that the movie "Idiocracy" would turn out to be a documentary?

Pathetic.

THEIR'S NO COMPETITION ON WHO THE MEDIA IS REALLY PREJUDICE AGAINST! BECAUSE I'M SURE HE BOUGHT THOSE SUITS, HIS WIVE'S CLOTHES AND THEIR KIDS STUFF AND THE WAL-MART!

Well, if you remember not too long ago. Republicans made the biggest deal about a John Kerry haircut that cost the ticket $400. But I guess $150,000 is no big deal compared to $400...as long as it's a Republican spending that kind of money. All is well in the world of the rich.

She didn't pay for them, the RNC did. I don't get the big deal about any of this. All of the candidates have a wardrobe and shouldn't have to use their own money to buy clothes too. They have a lot of campaigning to do, a lot of running around, and they have to look their best at all times. I'm not even voting for Palin, but I'm annoyed as a human being that we had to bring this into the fray. I truly don't care what she spends on her clothes. She's instructed by the RNC on what she can spend. If they don't like it, then don't approve her spending budget. This is no big deal.
