Hopefully the soap opera will soon end. Sistersville now can better focus on the myriad of problems, along with some enticing possibilities, notably making a deal with an energy company, similar to what Middlebourne did.

Talk about outatowners? It was people that don't even live within the city limits that bullied and harassed these people until they quit. They said it was because they weren't doing their jobs.Who can concentrate on doing their job when you're constantly bullied on social media and elsewhere. And I ask you, How is this any different than the first two women being bullied out of their jobs.Just like the Mayor said, most of the people at the meetings didn't even belong! They don't live in this town, Sistersville government is for folks in city limits! Don't move out and still try to retain your citizenship! Your vote no longer counts here!

well Elaine, you are actually admitting to people being bullied out in the first instance, which from the sounds of it, will help them in court. Now, your question is, and this was answered in the other thread, is what is the difference? well since we answered that before, I won't answer it again. But the question about who can attend meetings and who can voice their opinions, well now you just seem like you came to this argument unarmed with facts. You see, those people who attend the meetings from out of town, well, they do pay for Sistersville utilities, they also have vested interest in the town. I myself attend virtually, because I am no where close, because I will soon be moving back to the area and I do not want people like that running the town. Bullied on social media? not hardly. But I have seen one of the bullies try to intimidate people on social media and I can tell you that he is a coward. I would like to have a sit down discussion with him when I move back!
But I must say Elaine, your support for such action truly makes me wonder. I wonder if you just don't know, or you just don't care. but it really doesn't matter, everyone can see it for themselves!

Threats, illegal activity, etc... Could you be more specific as to what these people have done? Who did they threaten? What did they do that was illegal? What happened with the ethics complaint?

If you really don't know, then you are not paying attention, we will just leave it at that.

For me, the resignation speaks volumes. If the city recorder has done no "bullying" herself, why the resignation??? Most people who have nothing to hide don't just quit their job because people are unhappy with them. That goes with any job that is in the "public sector". There's always going to be someone complaining. Calling someone's employer multiple times and at hours that most working people are asleep is not bullying? Turning someone in to Social Security for doing charity work is not bullying? Why was the city recorder talking about confidential information where it could be overheard by anyone who walked in the office? That in itself is a punishable offense for her. Preach it to someone else.
As for the mayor's comments and your endorsement of those comments, do you know what the Open Government Meetings Act says???? Those meetings are open to anyone who wants to attend - it doesn't matter where they live. I suggest you research the facts before you spout off at the mouth.

They say this stuff every time but they still can't give any examples, just beat around the bush. There was no illegal activity or threats!

The truth will come out. Resigning is not going to keep them from being held accountable for all the unethical, immoral, illegal, mean spirited activities that they perpetrated on this town and its citizens while pretending to serve it legitimately. The people have spoken and many of them do live in the city limits. They want answers and they will get them. Those two will still have to pay the consequences.
When it all comes out certain people will pretend that they were their victim as well and want people to forgive them for the lies and misrepresented facts they have used to defend them. Will claim they are old and should be forgiven for being confused and for being taken advantage of by the councilman and recorder . Sorry, but fewer and fewer people are buying that victim game. It is getting old.
How many times have we hears this crap? Where's the previous mayor? He's gonna pay too right? Bla bla bla bla

Nice try, but since you already know the truth, why try to get people to say it out loud? Are you trying to trap people Elaine? Are you really that desperate? Maybe what you need to do is open your eyes. But just as an FYI, even though you may be friends with those in question, don't think for a second they would not stab you in the back and throw you under the bus too! That is the kind of people they are.

Since you appear to be quite vocal today, please enlighten me: Give me one single instance in which the people who quit were "bullied and harassed."

Did anyone call their employers and suggest that they were posting things on social networking sites? Or call a second time and suggest they were doing it while on the city's clock? Or call numerous times thereafter?

Did anyone sit outside their house and take photographs of them?

What you're failing to see is that this is all a mess of their own making. THEIR actions are the cause of all this attention by the local media and on sites such as this and Facebook. Had they been doing their jobs correctly and not searching out targets for their intimidation, they would never have attracted so much attention.

true grit is so worried about those that are outside of the city limits. Wanting to remind them their votes doesnt count. It must be getting to her that the ones outside of the city limits are influencing those that are in the city limits and do vote.
And to excuse them for not doing their job because they were being bullied on social media ? Give me a break, stay off of social media and do your job. How hard is that ?

Regardless of True grit's opinion, or that of the mayor, the Open Meetings Law of 1976 specifically provides for ANY interested party may attend an open meeting of any governmental board. If I so desired, I could attend a meeting of the Huntington City Council, the Kanawha County Board of Education, or the Monongalia County Commission-- without being questioned as to my purpose or being told that my "vote doesn't count."

Perhaps instead of worrying about WHO is attending the council meetings and where they live, city leaders ought to worry more about doing their jobs in the correct manner.

I've attended for years, and see the same things over and over. Mostly a bunch of talking and nothing else. But lately since the outsider bunch (mostly big mouth men and old maids) started getting involved, it's even worse. The town's still going nowhere!

You know, True grit or true grit or True Grit or whomever you may be posting as today, you remind me of one of my most favorite words.

Embarrassed.

Because that word contains a "bare ass" and if someone has the gonads to show it, then we ought to share it with the world.

Well True Grit, looks like those big mouth men and old maids are getting it done now huh? Too bad they didn't start about 5 years ago and things would not be as bad as it is right now!
