Very sad....She was found dead in a rural area of Roberts County? What? She was found in the trees behind the public high school in Sisseton..... Not rural. Maybe according to the county maps... but this is right in town. The high school is located on the east side of town. What's this place turning into??? Notice how it was kept hush, hush. When ever it involves natives, it is kept hush hush... If people knew half of what happens in that area... they would be shocked. Most news goes by unreported, or covered up, if it is negative and involves natives.

Neither, my illiterate friend. White as white bread comes. Look at it this way, short bus... No matter WHAT happened to her,the public should have the facts to be able to make their own determination as to whether or not they feel extra caution needs to be taken because they may have someone very unstable among us. They may have a n investigation to do...and yes, sometimes that has to be taken care of without the public eye, BUT they can give us what we need as a community in order to know what we should or should not be aware of. The natives, them selves, are massacring her again, even before she is laid to rest, because of her personal life relationship problems.Rest in peace??? not in Sisseton. Not until the public is done with it's scrutiny. This place is so messed up. EVERYONE should be mourning the loss of this very intelligent, beautiful person, that served as an educator... instead, she is being dissected. Relationship problems happen. They are a part of life. That is not a reason for anyone to start pointing fingers and putting blame as the game here. Leave her alone and let her go home. RIP Ms.Lufkins.

Michelle- She was a Great person! Smart, man that girl knew so many simple facts, and understood even more complex ideas. She Contributed that knowlege to people around her and for that reason alone was an asset to our world. I hope that everyone that knew her will respect and honor her in the aftermath of her untimely death. Life is what you make it, michelle was trying to make hers, and someone stole that from her, why? Because of inter-racial dating? Somthing she said? Her disregard for others feelings and happiness before her own? No mattter, they are all bull shit reasons and will never be a good enough excuse for her family and friends as to WHY! Everyone has a personal life- everyone has done things others dont approve of or like and despite all of the rumors that you have heard about hers, and things you have witnessed that you deem 'inappropriate' they do not concern you and they do not threaten your life! I hope what has happend here opens the eyes of our community that life is precious and should be valued; all of the small things that other people choose to do in there life is their choice! We can not change or control it, all we can do is control how we react and handle every situation, if you do not approve- then do not associate with that person, if they are your true friend then regardless of your opinion on the matter you should be happy for that person if they are happy. This tragedy has opened my eyes to alot of the hatered and racial indiference in the surrounding communities. I believe racisim is a person thing, not a racial thing, everyone disriminates. I do not loath anyone for thier skin color only the things they say and do and it is an uncontrolable feeling, somthing that happens in the subconcious mind that the rest of the body realizes after. If everyone could put race and religion aside we would be able to put the words white and native aside and replace them with friends and someone i dont care to associate with. It is not the color of your skin that makes you who you are but the deeds you do and if you are considerate and thoughtful of others. Michelle never wanted anyone to hurt from her actions but she didnt want to hurt herself from them either. She was a good hearted person that cared when people where hurting and wanted people to be happy. She will be missed and thought on often in my life. I hope no one is offended by my words they are feelings and veiws brought about by somthing so unneeded and so unfair. Remember your family and friends if you think you might want to slander her name and ask if this situation would be hard enough without hearing spiteful things in a time like this if the tables were turned. Thanks for reading and everyone be safe.

Why is it that there is a murderer on the loose and nobody seems concerned? It may be a isolated incident but someone killed another person and why isn't there an manhunt for the murderer, or am i missing something here?

It's Sisseton. They make up their own rules, and instead of the media being able to inform the public about what they need, and should know, they cover it up. They do not want BAD publicity about the community to get out there. I know first hand that this is the case. It happened a few years back in the case of the young girl being beat and left in a field north of Sisseton, over night in freezing temperatures. She endured horrific injuries from frost bite and was in the hospital for a very long period of time. This happened on a Friday after a high school game they attended, and after some information leaked out, and it went unreported to the public and law enforcement REFUSED to say anything, The news media (KSFY) was called to investigate and they broke the story, by swarming in and demanding information. An editor at the public opinion said that this is what they go through every time something negative comes up in that town and it involves the tribe. He said the tribe rarely offers up ANY information about anything they are asked about. Take the controversy with the commissioners. they believe they are above the law and can do what ever they please. Dysfunction Junction, I tell ya.
