Our local leaders have failed us, from county to school board, or town is dying were loosing population or taxes or one of the highest in the state, crime is compairable to cities 3 times as large or larger, race relations have been put back 100 years, we have police vs police, we have a jail we don't know how to run and pay for, we have a court system that's broken, we have a gang problem, we have our community leaders doing shady deals, and the worst, we have no-one with the desire to run against these people to try to make change

Tell who?? You live in Sisseton and have to ask if we need a change in our local government? This society is split into two seperate governing communities. We are unique in that sense because we are the only reservation in S.D. that is open. Two cultures with two different sets of rules and values. Two that do not play well together. As far as I see it, young blood is the only way that enough enthusiasm passion and energy can be stirred up to provoke change, To insist upon change. The government as it sits..literally.. is a who's who, good old boys club... that is hanging on to the old days..old ways. The last thing they want is change. Then they might have to work for that title. Exposing Sissetons problems ares the best and only way to deal with them. You cannot ruin a reputation that already is bad. This is a very small community that is overwhelmed with racial tention, drug and alcohol abuse, violence and gang activity.Out with the old and in with the new..It's the only way.

I agree with you, one of the first steps we can take is demand that our city council be broadcast on TV, Venture offered to do this for free, to create a public channel but dear old Mr, karst and crew refused, I'm sure they don't want the older people who would watch the channel to see how dumb they really are, it's easier to tell the elderly how scared they should be and how they working for them, BUt! if they we're allowed to see what their doing things would change, second we need to get as many people as we can to this web site so we can all communicate and come up with some sort of plan to go forward with, WE CAN DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!

Change? heck yes!! Sisseton is in serious trouble and the guy's running the town just keep on doing what they've been doing for the last 100 years which is nothing but giving each other a pat on the back for nothing!! they guy's or not smart! most of them can't remember their last b-day. And has anyone ever been to a city coun. meeting? if not you should go to one, it's really funny to see mayor Karst act like he's a king! he thinks he's so special, but when he talks you realize he was probably a special child, you know what I mean????

That's a stupid question! That's like asking if we need air to breath! The Roberts County commission has done more damage to Sisseton than we can evr repair, the Sisseton city council is loaded dummy's and our school board won't face reality, those or some serious problems.
I'll give some example's, The Roberts county commission has made such a joke out of the Sheriff's office it's a wonder we even have police protection from the county, when you can't handle the result's of a public election that's pretty bad, these guy's have changed election results on a jail bond and then made it so difficult for the elected Sheriff he resigned a month into the job, then trying NOT to look like it was a Native issue they hired another native as sheriff to save face, now they want him gone and or willing to do whatever it takes to do so. On the city side of thing's you have Frank Karst who couldn't tell you what time of day it is, he's more concerned about being a 60 year old cool guy than anything to do with the city, he can't stand not being in total control but we all know what happens when dummy's or control freaks don't we. Then we have the others on the council, MR. Wegilgner who is a janitor that has no bussiness sense period but he's been on the council for at least 20 years, Mr.Brook's who needs no indroduction, Mr.Joe, who's also been on there a good 20 years, Mr. stapleton who only god knows why he's been on there this long, Mr. Jasper's who in my mind is the smartest of the bunch but is out numbered by the above bunch, and Mr. Jenner who is more inline with Jasper's and I don't know much about. so here you have it 2 out of 7 that or doing there job, pretty sad isn't it, yea I'd say we need a change in every office.
