You mean Chuck's and Charlies were two different places?

Sheesh, maybe the 3.2 DID have an effect on me.

I just made the most delicious marinara sauce that we had over cheese ravioli. You know how once in awhile you actually create something that turns out wayyy better than you expected? Well, that's what happened. I'm so happy right now.

hi there all!

i worked at the truckstop and the owners where super nice people.

chuck who w\owns the gaslight -used to own chucks corner on 18th and minnesota. have had many a ($1.00) buck pitchers there!

the main gate was one of my favorite places (besides the pomp) to go. had to bring my own whiskey to mix. they still sell 3.2 beer in minnesota on sundays...how funny is that?

Did you hear about the high school basketball hero that made the winning shot for the season then the poor kid collapsed and died on the court from an enlarged heart? Holy cow, how tragic. I guess the whole crowd was just in shock. Poor kid - he was only 16. I just read that. Sorry to be a downer.

The Pomp Room...always thought it sounded like fancy ladies with poofy poodles and lords and gents in elegance. Boy was I shocked the first time I went inside. That place always stunk like sweat, beer, urine, and desperation.

Yeah... desperation. They were famous for that!
It was originally named the "Pump Room" but some big bar with the same name sued over them calling themselves that. The sign was changed to the "Pomp Room" as it only needed one letter changed.
True story.

yeah, it wasn't the most refined place. there were sure dodgier bars tho.

that's so sad about that kid.

i just watched "temple grandin." it was fascinating and amazing. it's about this autistic woman who ended up designing more humane and effecient feedlots and slaughter houses. clare danes plays her, perfect, with her hyperthyroid eyes and way of looking off to the side.

wasn't someone talking about her book here recently?

Being the little "Nun" I am,(lol) I seriously never set foot in the pomp room. Sad but true! you can tell any story about the joint and I will believe it, because I never, ever went there!
I only remember the bouncer getting murdered, possibly in the 80's or 90's, I had met him once at the Dakota Territory on Caroline Ave. and I was blown away when the dude got murdered.

The bouncers had a reputation for being a bunch of A-holes...
More then one of my freinds found themselves stuffed into the dumpster out back.

Azzholes??!! No... not really. They just partied hard and didn't take much crap off bouncers with overinflated egos. They got stuffed in the dumpster... even had their azz kicked good and hard, but it took more than ONE bouncer to do it!
Besides... I don't have azzholes as freinds. Which would explain why you and I are not freinds Terry. lol
